Speed Density conversion?

Worth the wild developing? Figured you are the go to guys for Ecotec work and could make it happen if the demand and need is there. Something that may be worth looking into.....

Getting rid of MAF and using a speed density set-up. Its another method of measuring the amount of incoming air. Many advantages to this. Weather its worth the time to develop for the ecotec community I guess only time will tell.....if someone steps up and does it.

i have been kicking this around.... lots of hrs tuning involved us turbo guys cant hold a tune for more than a cpl months then the ltft have gone to **** as well as PE AFR, and it needs an hr of tuning to get the maf back on track... then the next day weather changes back and your old tune runs perfect again... so frustrating sometimes not knowing is it gonna run 12.0 afr today or 11.5 like i command.

i here SD tuning will help greatly.

I'm sure if enough people would understand what you do and enough interest was built it could get somewhere.

streetdreamz did a great write up in the tuning section on how to switch to a 3bar SD tune. If you are running strictly MAF on your tune and it's dialed in then when your in open loop it shouldn't matter what the conditions are outside. A MAF measures roughly the density of the air so it compensates for barometric pressure and other such things that would change values in the tune.

It would work on the LSJ, but we don't have enough tables to do it on the LNF yet. Maybe HPT will release them, or maybe Trifecta will. But, I agree, it would be nice to tune with SD.

Wouldn't putting the MAF in the cold side IC piping fix problems without having to convert to SD tuning?? for the LNF im talking

No, it wouldn't. All that is for is for the ricers that want the BOV sound without messing up the MAF sensor.
