Take it from the manufacturer, there's no restriction on this header. The tubes were engineered at the proper turn radius and length to ensure maximum benefit of heading the exhaust gases to the collector.

Looks a lot different then the ca header. This looks to take up much more space therfore harder to install. I had heard of people having trouble installing them and a few gave up and sold it. Have never seen a good answer as far as how to actually shoe horn this thing in.

no, just the oem header. The half shaft could be removed for ease of installation, but is not necessary. The header comes with detailed instructions.

You can do it without taking the half shaft out; It takes practice. I've done the prototype dozens of times and installed three on customers cars.

Taking the valve cover off will let you access the top bolts easier, it does not mean that you can install the header from the top though... The header can only fit from underneath the car.

ps: get that header in the car and off the basement floor. ;)

how hard is it to take out the half shaft?

Hmm, Take passenger wheel off > take half shaft mounting bracket off > pop half shaft out from transmission. 15 minutes tops.

Sure we could do installs, seeing as we're good at it. :) I would have to up the price a tad and say $550 for a installed header. That's a killer price for a long tube header bought out right and installed!

We're doing a production run, which means 30 days until we're completely done all 200 units. No sooner than that!

Also, the sale will be on for almost a couple months... (remainder of March, plus the entire April). If you want to get the sale price, you have to purchase immediately!

Shipping begins when we're done the full batch.

Just a random question..... Is there any risk during hard acceleration of the header hitting the firewall? If so would motor and tranny mounts cure this?

No, no risk whatsoever. Many customers still have stock mounts and some hefty numbers. The header does not contact any thing other than the cylinder head. (in the proper way)

Thats the beauty of this system, the downpipe can be the stock unit or any other downpipe manufactured by any company that installs in the stock location. Totally modular with long tube design.

you cant add the option on the website, you have to send an email directly to info@jbodyperformance.com specifying that the additional bung be added. this is added for $15.

Stock DP is about 3" at the flange. It gets smaller at the cat, then smaller still where it bolts up to the cat-back, which is 2.5". There is one section of 2.25" over the axle.

The header won't cause a check engine light when installed properly. If you tend to install parts without gaskets, then yes, you'll get a light. ;)

The price is just stupid low... if you we're waiting for a header, you have no more excuses. This is THE header to get.

Thinking about getting the whole "Vortex" package (header/DP/Catback) as the header and DP are reasonable, but the Catback is way pricey and I can't really tell why it's so much more...granted a competitior's Catback is "only" 2.75 sized but it's fully polished and $699...can't see the $350 dollar difference...

Anyone?

Also I emailed JBP Sunday about paying for/adding an additional bung to the header (may change it to the DP as it's no cost) but haven't received any answer ?

JBP
03-19-2008, 02:21 PM
Odd, Myself and Marco didn't see an email come in concerning that. Anywhoo, the additional O2 bung on the header is only $15. This comes with the plug and the O2 bung welded to the header.

The catback pricing is as such for now... Maybe we might do a huge production run of our exhausts as well, this would bring the price down considerably. If this is the case, we'd sell the entire system as a whole upgrade kit and offer a discount to through our dealer network.

it'd be awesome to sell all 200, but we wont hold our breath. :)

the deadline is end of April...

I bet that if you wait until the end of May... you'll probably sell A LOT more units in America. (I know that I am getting my $600 rebate... and would love to spend it on this!)

I'm excited to hear what this sounds like.

I can't even describe it. When its idling, or gentle revs like in the sound clips on the jbp website, it sounds ok. But if you want to lay on the throttle at all, or even cruise above 3 grand, its horrible. :barf:

It's entirely possible that you sent me crap and send everyone else good stuff. After all, one of the primaries on the header touches up against the engine since you sent it back after fixing the warped flange. Not to mention all of the work that had to be done to the dp and catback just to be able to get it onto the car.

what are the advantages of long tube vs shorty?

better low/end or top/end?

i have a 2.2, would this be a good mod for mee??

i have the SAI, i hear its hard to install a header without denting it because of a coolant line coming out of the block, so will this fit my engine (without denting)??

We've tuned the header to benefit bottom-mid end torque and sacrifice top-end. The header compliments heavily modified vehicles (pulleys, exhaust, intake, cams, etc...) much better than stock vehicles with restrictive exhausts, as the runner length is designed for maximum exhaust 'pull' at low-mid rpm. So you get the low end grunt of a short tube and the lasting torque curve of long tube with our header.

The header is a good mod for the 2.2, but as for fitment, its hard to say as we've never put our header on before. One customer who bought the header has a 2.2L and is willing to try to see if it fits... When we hear back from him as to whether it fit well, we'll advertise it to everyone.

Alright guys, the welders are proceeding along fluidly. We should be good for our date of delivery and on time for shipping!!

At this point, I would like to stretch our thanks for everyone who has purchased the header thus far. We're going to add a little something for free for everyone who grabs a header during this sale that normally costs an additional $150. ;)

So if i buy it like this week will i be able to get this deal too or no.

If I got the header and the pulley, could I get free shipping on the pulley at least?

Same question.

I'm for sure buying the header sometime this week.... If shipping isn't too much, I'll probably get in on the pulley too.

Must've missed that question. Absolutely, we'll combine ship on a header + pulley combo. Just buy both and indicate in a separate email to 'info@jbodyperformance.com' that you are requesting a shipping refund on the pulley.

I will be ordering during the middle of next week, damn that thing is sexy and I likes the price too!

Also, is it a good idea to have the Wideband 02 bung on the actual header itself?

Does it come with new studs for the head or just the bolts that connect the header-dp?

Does it come with the neccesary gaskets?

10 days, we're keeping our fingers crossed.

Also, is it a good idea to have the Wideband 02 bung on the actual header itself?

Yes, for $18 bucks, we'll throw one on the header for you.

Does it come with new studs for the head or just the bolts that connect the header-dp?

It comes with new bolts, one stock stud is reused.

Does it come with the neccesary gaskets?

No, gaskets are not included with the header.

Does the sale end at the end of the month or until all 200 are sold?

The sale ends at the end of the month. The remaining units will not be available for the sale price.

What gasket do you recommend using? Do you sale one?

According to Autometer and AEM install instructions, it is recommended to have the wideband o2 placed a certain distance from the engine exhaust ports to get a proper reading. (This distance can be found in the install instructions, I don't have them on hand right now).

I can tell you from first hand experience that the best reading will be found when placing the wideband closer to the end of the downpipe, but still before the cat. (This is where zzp's high flow cats become a great asset).

I am not certain how one would fit a wideband sensor into this header as the collector tract is already considerably populated with the existing narrowband.

so are you saying that they will be delivered in ten days or are you hoping to ship them out in ten days? And what is going to be the shipping method?

The stock gaskets are fine. You can get it from any GM dealer.

I am not certain how one would fit a wideband sensor into this header as the collector tract is already considerably populated with the existing narrowband.

Each wideband calls for a specific distance from the head, LC-1, AEM, etc... however, the distance we place the wideband at is an optimal point for all sensors on the market.

We offset the wide band bung slightly, offering mounting for both sensors in a relatively easy position to extract the wideband for interval calibration.

Hoping to ship within ten days, not delivered. Shipping is Canada Post, Expedited Courier.
