Come And Go Lean Code
Come And Go Lean Code
I Only Have An Intake On My Car, And Have Had It Since 3k, Now At 15k, The Check Engine Light Goes On And Off, When It Rains...the Code Is System Too Lean Bank One. Any Ideas...
you could be sucking alittle water up, when you bought your intake and put it on did you put that oil **** that comes with it??? because beleive it or not that oil can get on your maf senior and throw some codes
so yeah... **** the dealer, action chevrolet and smartdealnetwork (anyone in upstate new york knows who they are). they told me im outta warranty b/c of my intake and thats what is causin my light... even though its not on all the time and i had 12k on it with an intake and no ****** check engine light. this is bullshit
The lean code really doesn't make anything to do with the engine going lean. It's the LTFT going over a +20 value. It's more than likely because of your intake causing the MAF to register less air than is actually entering the engine. This makes the ECU added more fuel and register a lean condition. EIther that or there is a leak in the intake tract.
Its the bloody intake, always is. Seriously none of the big name manufacturers get the pipe diamater or maf positioning correct.
The gains they post are a missleading too. They dyno the car right after they install it, so naturally the MAF is wrongly measuring less air due to the above issues. So the car leans out and of course its gonna be making more power. Its a scam, they perpously design the MAF placement as such to inflate the gains.
However, the ECU won't be fooled that easily so over time and thanks to the O2 sensors it adjusts the air/fuel ratio to get it back in line with stock. If this correction factor exceeds 20% it throws a CEL.
So not only is it making far less than the advertised power, it could possibly harm your engine.
The stock air box is restrictive no doubt as its made for sound dampening and not performance, but nobody is getting 15hp from an intake - not even close.
