Just an Idea?

so i had this crazy idea...
now before i get flames buy every one who thinks its a bad idea..
i dont care what you think, if you dont like it.. im just curious to see if it would work
so on that note if your gonna be an ass dont reply if your gonna help me out power to you

i was thinking about getting a SS/SC and i thought that an sts turbo could mount onto it. is that possible to run both a SC and a TC?

just think ->

pop the hood, "supercharged eh? isnt the Turbo SS faster?"
" Yeah the TC is faster stock, but i like the SC"

but little do they know theres a sts turbo under the car running 5 pounds of boost along with a supercharger

it would be like a dream machine, low end tq and high end tq any thoughts?

i doubt the stock engine would hold that much pressure. you would need a MUCH bigger cooler for the sc, the heat from that would be pretty high, and you might need to cool the turbo charge before it goes into the sc so thats another cooler. its doable but it will be alot of work. it may even be cheeper/easier to get a kit from hahn and delete the sc.

It's not efficient. Let's compress a bunch of air then try to shove it through something that can't flow as much air as you're throwing at it now. This will result in extra heat. Now the intercooler design in the intake manifold isn't what I'd call up to par for cooling purposes of the stock M62 on a pulley with all the cooling mods let alone this extra heated air.

A proper sized turbo will suit the motor much better.

if built and tuned for 5 psi from the turbo, sure but its gonna take a LOT of money, figure the sts kit is3 grand, then the cost of getting it fab'd to fit, then the cost of a rebuild, coolers for the sc. its gonna be pricy.but done right sure its gonna be faster then either of the two stock.

why are u looking into the STS kit?

why dont u look at the company that already did it ? only cost about 3400 or so.

do a search for zzperformance twincharge.

its been done a few times already. i think i might be the only one left though with the kit still on a car...not sure...dont hold me to that. the original one was done 4 yrs ago by a friend of mine on his 05 right hand drive cobalt. we fabricated our own kit.
while i wouldnt say its completely useless, we didnt do it to my car to go out and street race or track the car....it was more for show and go...as i compete pretty heavily throughout the US. stock supercharged and TC cars dont cut it on the show circuit.

personally, i would go straight turbo.

The twin charge is nice, dont get me wrong. There are only a couple people (1 or two) that have one, and you would probly have to drive it to ZZP every time you needed it fixed.

it is alot easier to just do turbo.

is it worth it....for a daily driver...probably not.

like he age old debate that has gone on for 3 yrs now...a lot of people would agree....straight turbo is probably the best application.
