Florida and Back

Car: 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS 2 door Coupe

Mods: Lowered on H&R Springs, Triple Interceptor Setup w/ ZZP Triple Pod, Nitrogen Inflated tires, Torco 10w-30 Full Synthetic Oil.

Drive: Chicago Illinois to Ft Myers Beach Florida.

Review: Well my friends and I got bored about a month ago and decided planning a trip to Florida would be kool. Anyways I was iffy on putting the miles on my car being almost brand new but I finally decided to hell with it, lets see how enduring the car can be. So the Saturday before we left I put my lowering springs on. Right away noticed the difference in handling and I drove it for about 100 Miles before we left for Florida. Finally we left on May 31st and came back on June 4th. Both times we drove straight through with 4 stops(gas and food) on the way there and 5 on the way back. There was one extra on the way back just to do some sight seeing. Overall i was very well pleased with the car. I took a couple on ramps and went through the mountain turns at 70-80 just to see how far i can push the car(no one else was on the ramps other then me at the time) and broke the 100mph barrier twice. Now i normally dont drive fast or beat on the car but i figured a couple times wont hurt it what so ever. The car did have slight wheel hop through the high speed turns if i hit larger bumps but if they were flat it was very stable. My water temp and oil temps both stayed under 200 degrees for the most part. Both reached about 201-204 twords the end of the drive in Florida due to 100 degree weather but coming back to illinois i didnt even break 195 degrees. The seats didnt kill back like i though they were going to and i promote for nos energy drinks so we took 4 cases of it and my luggage and a friends luggage and only had to put the backseats down for 1 case of the nos. Plenty of room and even with the weight in the back the car still handled great and pulled nicely. Honestly the only thing that really dissappoints me with the car is the fact that the spoiler flexs a lot doing about 70mph+. We stayed at a steady 80mph for most of the ride unless a cop was by or the speed limit went from 70 to 55 or something and my buddies and i could not believe just how much is flexed compared to some of the other high rise spoilers on the evos and sti's. Got good gas mileage throughout. i averaged 30 mpg on the highway for the most part. Nitrogen inflation was great in the tires. I had no degree fluctuation througout the trip even when we got into Florida and Georgia with 90-100 degree weather.

Overall: I'm pleased with the car but believe me im not driving to florida again. Except for going through the mountains and cities its a boring trip. More mods are coming to the car within the next couple weeks so I have a trip planned to go to Ohios Ceder Point. Its shorter but i would like to see how the car does with mods.

I know this was long but just figured i would post up.

Did the car have different amounts of boost in different areas of the country you drove through?

i really wasent paying attention to the boost all that much i know it got into the 18lbs range once. yes i did do an alignment on the car after i put my springs in. the funny thing is my car wasent even out of alignment....just the toe was slightly off. so a quick adjustment and off the rack it came.

How in the world did you make it with only four stops.....with y'all pounding NOS the whole time? I'd be stopping like every 30 minutes.......

2 drivers per car. but the guy i drove with only drove like 2 hours each way so i ended up driving about 20 hours. i just promote for nos i dont really drink the stuff. grape flavor is great but not to much into the others but to each is their own.

2 drivers per car. while one slept one drove pretty much and i had 2 ways to communicate with the s2000 that came with. my buddy only drove like 2-4 hours each way and i drove all the rest. i have sleeping issues so wasent to big of a deal lol. i just promote for nos i really dont drink energy drinks. besides if you have like 4 of them in a day you crash extremely hard.

i never run by what the manual states unless is says 10w-30. ive always run 10w-30 in every single car except my camaro which gets 50 weight race oil. its just personal preference for me. also i figured with the car running almost 20 hours straight a thicker oil might be a little more worth while.

Why? There is a reason manufacturers recommend a certain weight of oil. Engineers get paid lots of money to figure out what weight is best for an engine - if you put too heavy a weight in, you arent lubricating the engine correctly and can lead to premature engine failure. 10w-30 probably isn't too heavy, but still.

If you were seeing 23psi something was/is wrong. I live at 5000 ft and I see 18 max.

There isn't that much of a difference between 5w and 10w, just that little measley amount for a cold startup until the oil is warmed then it is the 30w
