How long till Paint Fades?

My car is unfortunately parked in the sun all day long. UV index is usually around 8. I keep it waxed. How long do you think till the paint starts fading. Am I looking at, at least a few years. Im not so much concerned about the fading but getting those spots on the car where it looks like the paint was just burned off right down to the primer.

hmm. i would think as long as you wax it every 3 months..and maybe use some good spray detailer every 2-3 weeks you shouldnt have anything to worry about?

The Clear Coat is what protects the paint from UV fading and as long as you keep a good coat of a high-quality wax on the car to protect the clear coat (always have a good water bead, means you'll be washing once every 2-3 weeks), you should get years of decent fade protection. I can't tell you exactly how long it will take to fade and to what degree. UV breaks down pretty much everything in our world (including our own DNA), so eventually the sun will win.

im more worried about rocks and junk getting thrown up by the wheels, chipping the paint. As long as you keep a good coat of wax on there, you should be good. I would re-wax your car every 6 months, if not more.
