how do you reset the bypass to factory specs

My mechanic did some checking on my car today found out some things that he is going to try after service managers leaves for the day.He wants me to see if i can adjust the bypass to factory original.
Just wandering if there is a proper way to do this or just play with it till its right.
he had appointments so he did not have time to do it.
so i told him i would take care of it so i can learn more about this car just dont want to screw it up.
