See the car washing thread in the how-to section. Sponges are bad, use a mitt and make sure it is as clean as can be by cleaning it in a bucket of unsoapy water and then resoaping it in the soapy bucket, don't dry with anything besides microfiber towels and give a good waxing every now and then.

yes if you use some of that **** that is supposed to fix scratches it works great on swirls. It does not repair scratches. I use that... then I wait a day or so and wax my car.

Get the finest polishing compund avalialbe to you. I use meguiares swirl remover or fine polishing compund. When you use it dont rub in a circle go fron to back the length of the vehicle but you would have best results with a buffer.

To get the swirls out the best thing to do is use a high-speed buffer. If u do use this be very careful it will put Serious swirls in your car if u dont use it right, but if used correctly it will look beautiful!

rub your hand over your paint. If your hand dosent slide, you need a good buff. My black one does the same, it used to look like **** in the sun until I buffed it with some clay ontop.

My Supercharged is black to and when theres swirls i use DuraGloss Swirl Mark Remover its cheap and it works great, it also smells like banana. But at the end it gives u a nice mirror like finish.

ok. i detail cars for a living. try the scratch-x. i only use Meguiar's products. they're the best. go get there Crystal Paint Formula. its a 3-step program. they're $6.00 a piece. buy the first 2 steps and for the third step, get their Gold Class wax instead. the worst car was my girlfriends. her paint job was HORRIBLE. this stuff works wonders. take my word for it. you wont regret it.

So the million dollar question is, what if you have the black swirl and this is the way it was given to you from the dealer? Do you take it back and bitch to have it fixed or do it yourself?

use the swirl remover, or some hand glaze. but before that, use a claybar, the claybar will take the imperfections out of the paint, which cause the swirls, then the hand glaze will remove the swirls, and also leave you with a deeper, clearer finish. try it, im telling you you will be amazed, do a before and after, leave like half the hood un done with the claybar, and feel the difference, the paint without the claybar will be rough, and feel like it is oversprayed.

how hard is it to do a claybar deal? i mean this is aparently the cream of the crop in detailing at places I go to for hand washes with orders starting at 100 bucks with a wax afterwords and a prior 2 hour minumum wait time.

Some people might take it back but I look at it this way if they caused it do you really think they will be able to fix it. Personally I would just bitch and get some free stuff out of them like a few oil changes or something.

Clay bar is really simple basically you use a lubricant spray on the vehicle and rub the bar over it. It will remove all of the small stuck or crap from your paint. After done clay baring give her a good seal and wax and youll be good to go.

i tried doing that prior to leaving the lot the day i bought my 05 SS/SC...it's black and there was swirl marks all OVER!! they do not wash the cars correctly on the lot!! but anyways they took it back, clayed and polished it, and then returned it 2 hours later and it looked better, but you could def. still see the swirl marks in the sun. i do believe its inevitable b/c i have tried every polish and wax out there and NOTHING works. i even had my balt professionally done and it still did not remove those small scratches. i came to the conclusion to accept the fact that its' black and that it reveals everything, regardless of how clean it is..
