What springs should I get for a 05 Coupe LS

Hey guys I'm new to lowering cars. What springs should I get for an 05 Coupe LS and should I get cc plates or any other hardware so my alignment won't be off?

Will I be safe just getting springs or do I need other stuff too?

I'm looking for something relatively cheap, and I don't even know if I need CC plates or anything else so I don't screw up my alignment.

Does anyone know if all you need are springs?

If someone could explain this whole lowering thing that would be great.

lowering springs will normally be 200-300 dollars and dont necessarily require anything but an alignment.

depending on the size of the drop determines whether or not you may need a camber kit to adjust toe to a minimal for even tire wear

There are a number of reviews and how-to's on this forum about this topic. Please do a search.

Basic lowering is the replacement of stock springs with aftermarket ones that have a lower spring rate (amount of coil), hence they sit lower. An alignment is required after the installation of springs. On the Cobalt, your front toe will be effected, which requires a simple tie rod adjustment. Factory alignment specs are maintained, no alignment kit is required.

Please read my How-To on the front springs:

Sometime when i have time i'll make a write up of all the springs because everyone is asking this. On the cheaper side you can go with Tenzo-R which will give you the biggest drop 2" front and 2.5" rear. SSC from ZZPerformance also run about the same price as TENZO-R. Your looking at around 140ish. High side you have eibach at 220+.

I havent done an alignment yet but all that is out is camber. Shouldnt need any type of kit, but i'll see when i do it.
