shortie antenna replacement

So i went to good old Canadian Tire and picked up a shortie antenna to get rid of that RC car look that we all have going on.

The antenna is only $10, but i have run into a problem.

It appears that when i remove the factory antenna the post that it screws onto is too fat for the shortie. They have provided me with 4 other post in the packaging, but i cannot figure out how to get the factory post off of the car..

Has anyone else come across this and if so how did you take off the stock antenna post? Do they just unscrew with say a pair of vice grips??

Thanks

it doesn't come out. those adapters that came with assume that the car is the female end. most cars, the antenna screws INTO the car.... i'd bet that those adapters, on one end is the size that fits the antenna, on the other end are varied sizes for the different cars.

Joe, 5150 is my brother, I actually took him to Canadian Tire to purchase the same antenna that I purchashed which fit DIRECTLY onto my car. It appears as though his post is much thicker than mine. Both of the cars are 06 SS/SC's however mine was built earlier in the year than his, think this would make a difference?

it may be, the other option is that the antenna maker used a different size base... take yours off and see if it fits onto his car. a lot of these shorty antennas are made by taking bids. i'm thinking that may be the case... worse comes to worse there are a few other options.
