might buying a cobalt ss/sc in a week need info asap :)
i found a 05 yellow ss/sc with 29,xxx miles on it at the dealership for $18,795. but i know someone there and i can get it for $16,000. now im new to the whole cobalt scene.. well my g.f drives a reg cobalt ss silver... but i see u guyz saying like ss/sc g85.. whats the g85? type of supercharger? and how long does the supercharger last? i also know im buying the stage 2 asap..... i currently own a 2004 orange svt focus with alot of mods. also what is ur guyz insurence like.. im 20yrs old so i hope it aint to high.. thx guys all the info will be appreciated.
The g85 package refers to the package that comes with a LSD (limited slip differential), and in the 2005, 2006, and early 2007 models it comes with Recaro seats, and matching door inserts. The supercharger is an Eaton M62. Insurance is a b*tch. It is pretty high, not going to lie man.
I wouldn't pay more than 14k for that many miles on a sports car. You should be able to get a new one for about 22k-23k though. Honestly though, if you are looking around for a 15k car try to find an srt4 that was not modded. Flame war.... BEGIN.
Dude or try and find a Saturn Ion Redline. Pretty much the same car still supercharged can still get recaro's and boost guages, but insurance runs as a 4-door because of the 2 lil suicide doors on it. Check that out too.
On your test drive take it to a mechanic you know, and have him look. Since you've done a lot of your own mods, I'm sure you have a feel for the look of the car.
Chances are the guy was using it for a daily driver - not sure why he'd now choose a vette for a daily, but wahtever.

Most of your questions were answered ....reliablity of the blower ? My car has 47,000 miles and have been shifting the car at 7200 for a lil over a year now . No blower problems . Smaller pullies 2.5/2.6 use water injection to keep it nice and cool .
You guys are gonna HATE me ...being 33 , the insurance on the SS is $290 every 6 months . The Cobalt in ANY trim should be on the lower end of typical sport compacts insurance premiums .

I know of two new 06 SS/SC's sitting on dealer lots in Atlanta...one in particular I think you can get for around $17000-$18000, since it has around 1800 miles on it...been sitting on a dealer lot since Nov 2005. I would not pay the price you mentioned. Use www.gmbuypower.com to do a search. Search on my id if you need more info on the silver SS/SC w/G85...
