You don't need the high temp paint. I got NAPA to mix me up some paint that matched the car. brushed it on and it lasted all summer, fall and winter. Have to redo it in the spring.
Turns out great every time

If you lived in Arizona its a whole different story. Just sitting in the sun, tires get too hot to touch, let alone lugnuts, and brake components. If you live where it is cold, then it could be okay I guess, I'm not an expert, but I think that the excess heat gets bled off in the cold air. But the reason yours have lasted so long is that you don't have temperatures going over 115 or 120 degrees. Its funny to see spray painted drum brakes or calipers in the summer, just pealing away. Hell even high temp paint only lasts about 5-10 years here, I guess cause the stuff never gets a chance to cool down.
Don't use the GM spray paint for your calipers bro.
Just use duplicolor ceramic caliper paint.
That GM paint will end up chipping off in no time and you wasted a lot of time for ugly chipping calipers that have to be redone.
Do it right, do it once.

The duplicolor stuff is gret if you have a car that matches with thier paint like red, or yellow, the old blue from 05 and 06 but if you have say a Sunburst orange or Sport Red colored car what then? Plain red wouldn't look good on them but fear not the GM paint does just fine. I don't need to repaint mine every spring I just pull the wheel and wash the caliper and they look like just painted.
Well a buddy of mine has used GM paint on his calipers, not a Cobalt, a Cavi.
He did a good job spraying them and a year later there are chips in the paint.
That's my experience with GM paint on calipers. Give it a whirl if you want.
I totally understand the paint match situation. I got lucky with the Duplicolor red.

Yeah you guys with the Victory Red cars are lucky like that.
Try it. Tell us how it works out down the road. It would help people color match calipers.
When I do mine I was thinking about a high temp primer, then the GM Sunburst paint, then a high temp clear coat. I'm no paint expert but that seems like it should helps things last longer and resist chipping.
