View Full Version : Nitrous Legal? cobalt2k5 09-05-2005, 11:39 PM Is nitrous legal im getting mixed opinions on it? stonny9 09-06-2005, 12:05 AM i have heard that it is legal to have it but illegal to have the bottle connected in your car and within reach from the drivers seat. saskssfreak 09-06-2005, 12:09 AM i have heard that it is legal to have it but illegal to have the bottle connected in your car and within reach from the drivers seat. its like that in canada too as long as it is not connected to the bottle it is fine undrgrndcobalt 09-06-2005, 01:33 PM In texas as long as the bottle is empty or not on its all good... anywho get a pressure release and turn off the bottle and the will never know you were using it... tiny 09-06-2005, 04:15 PM if you have an open bottle it is in NY it depends on the state but just hide it somewhere, build a cover for it, id be really surprised if you pulled over for it olddude 09-06-2005, 05:10 PM aside from the above advice which seems more concerned with how to not get caught with it (and the odds are pretty good you will not unless you purge by a cop), it is illegal everywhere in the US of A. You can use it at the track (off-road use), but if it is hooked up before you get there, you are breaking the law. phxSS 09-14-2005, 02:47 AM Why is nitrous illegal? mchat 09-14-2005, 11:57 AM Why is nitrous illegal? Emmissions. phxSS 10-04-2005, 10:21 PM Ahh ok. So then I'm suprised Saleen got away with putting a bottle into the n20 Focus then. That car is the definition of entrapment. 02blazerx 10-04-2005, 10:29 PM ^^yes, but if you read the small print..it doesnt come fully hooked up. Permafried- 10-09-2005, 09:09 PM I guess the safest thing to do is leave it unhooked until you head to the track but don't forget to purge every time to get air out of the lines before hooking it up or you could make a hell of a mess out of your engine :). Permafried- wasey13 11-13-2005, 02:47 AM I guess the safest thing to do is leave it unhooked until you head to the track but don't forget to purge every time to get air out of the lines before hooking it up or you could make a hell of a mess out of your engine :). Permafried- That is not why you purge your lines. GTPsRule 11-13-2005, 03:03 AM Yeah last I knew you purged your lines to clear out any debris that may be in there. One little tiny ass microscopic fragment in there and your nozzle is clogged, no good. Especially if youre running a wet system. All that extra fuel with no nitrous to match it. Ewww  That and you want pure nitrous being used, no vapor. From ZEX's site.... By purging your nitrous system just before a race you clear the lines of vapor and ensure that pure liquid nitrous is delivered as soon as the kit activates. SloBaltSS 11-16-2005, 11:09 PM Its legality is a state to state thing. Its fine here in Florida. Cobalt_Supercharged 11-16-2005, 11:22 PM in AZ I think it's ok to have, but if you use it on the street you automatically loose your license. If you get caught. |
