My '06 SS/SC with 7500 miles on it:

Quite often lately when I push the clutch in to shift to next gear I get a single click/tick or creak sound coming from under the car somewhere. Sounds almost like that kind of click when the air conditioner compressor engages. (Happens even when the air conditioner is not on). The noise is not always in sync with the clutch pedal being pushed so I doubt it is the linkage. Sometimes it'll happen a second after the pedal is fully down. Sometimes as soon as it is started being pushed down. I do hear an audible switch click sound inside the cabin when the clutch pedal is first pressed but that does not concern me too much.

I'm going to make an appointment tomorrow to get this looked at/listened to.

first off, this is in no way an exhaust noise/problem. i also experience that same "click" noise. i didnt notice it untill i got my exedy clutch/flywheel set up. but i notice it under decel mostly. i dunno if its the release bearing or what but it def is annoying at times. especially when u romp on it when u have a chick with u. then shes like "whats that click noise?" lol, anyways any help would be appreciated. and misery5567 lemme know what they tell ya when u take it in. thanks. bump

I myself have a bad clicking noise when I take off in 1st and shifting.
I also clicks when letting off the gas.

btw MY CAR HAS 33,000 ON IT

My noise for sure is the axle cvu joints.
Ive taken it to the dealership 4 times and they say they cant hear anything so they said to keep driving it "stupid @ssholes they are", well its has gotten worst so if they cant hear it this time when I bring it back for the 5th time they are deaf SOB's.

So i just wanted to let you know it could be your axles as well clicking.
Its quite known problem in the POS cars.

Yes im very upset with Chevy cars as of late and im a die hard chevy fan.
But sorry CHEVY these cars are basket cases.

I just took my car in for this same thing is it on a 2.4? It sounds like its coming from the back but ends up being the transmition instead. Does the noise go away when the clutch is pushed it? And is it really loud and bad if u shift into 5th at like 45-50?

Mine only clicks when im shifting or backing up in reverve or letting off the gas letting the engine slow down car.

Sound is made mostly on the driver side.
Mine is for sure a axle noise .NO Doubt!!

Hey, just because your car was built on a Friday doesn't mean that every one's Cobalt is a POS. My car has had no issues whatsoever regarding factory manufacturing or equipment. I've enjoyed all 17K I've put on the car and will continue to enjoy it. I know you're upset that you're having problems, but don't drag my car into it because yours was either improperly assembled or improperly maintained/operated...

dude i burned up 2 factory clutches already, one with only 500 miles on it... im runnin an exedy stage3 hyper clutch now and it grabs like none other. but yea i would romp on it and it just wouldnt grab. once our clutches heat up forget about it. but they will tend to develope a glaze when they are cold and when thay are too hot. u kinda have to find a happy medium. thats why i completely ditched the factory route and went aftermarket. i highly reccomend spending the $ on an aftermarket assembly

metal on metal makes noise. When that much metal is moving, something will tick. We don't own a lexus...so just turn the radio up.
