guys i really need help!

Ok so im driving to a friends house to actually paint my fuel rail cover and i notice my shifter is acting funny (b&m short throw shifter) the shifter would move around freely like all messed up and it wouldnt go in fisrt so i started off in 2nd so i call my friend and say dude im coming and my shifter is fucked up so we look at the internals of the shifter and everything is connected and tight but for some reason i think the shift linkages got unadjusted because people said ur shift points would change and right now i cant even put my car in neutral because it so fucked up idk if anyone has had this problem before but if u kno anything about how i can put my shift linkages back to stock or whatever then plz lmk or let me kno anything about anything on this topic because its gonna look bad when my dealer puts it on a rollback and just says that my aftermarket shifter was installed incorrectly and drop me with a huge bill.

SORRY for typing issues and no periods but im just so worried about my car and what is going to happen.

I dont know much about the shifters but just from reading some other people's posts I believe there are little plastic clips that a made crappy and weak and break.

this may be a culprit

Put your stock shifter back on and see if it's better. If it isn't, take it to the dealer with the stock shifter..

Mine would feel like there when it was in neutral when it was really in 3rd and 4th. Then after I crunk it up again it would only go in 5th, no matter when gear slot I put it in, it was always in 5th, even in neutral. Then the same thing happened but w/ reverse. Turns out the fork that moves the 3rd and 4th gear into place broke in half and I guess the pieces were jammed in there somewhere.
