sorry internal advice needed

sorry for the lack of the search button but i got tired of looking with my stupid dial up.... and yes people do still have dial up

i just wanted to know besides pistons what would i need to make the engine hold 350-375 horse safely....

i want to build my engine later but i dont have the money to do it all now so i thought i would just do enough to hold that much power...

so the list would be

pistons
neutral balance shafts????
.......

thanks for all the help

i would not listen to 90% of the **** you hear on this site. Every car is different then the next. My buddy's car blew his piston, broke a stock axle, a 400hp axle, blew his motor and forged piston all with less power than me. I have not broke a damn thing yet. O he also blew his tranny on a new stock engine

With regard to the stock LSJ engine only, you actually shouldn't have to change a single thing to safely reach 350 HP. The only reason pistons are failing below that level has to do with poor tunes resulting in excessive heat.

However, pistons are still the weakest link in that engine. If you choose to replace them, the only other thing you should do is put the engine head back on using studs and instead of bolts due to the reuseablity and even clamping force. Everything else about the engine is fine. You do not have to replace the rods and crank. They are forged parts capable of handling over 400 HP easily.

You do not need neutral shafts unless you plan on spinning the engine over 7500 RPM. And you won't need to do that to achieve 350HP.

If you want to build a reliable higher horsepower motor, and youre really not sure what parts you need, FIND A GOOD MACHINIST!

An engine builder is who you want to talk to, not a bunch of other inexperienced people blowing up their motors without even making serious power.

Unfortunately this or any message board is not a good place to find out answers to questions like that. Find someone who does it for a living, and pay them for their services. You will be much better off.

^^ Somebody is a bitter monkey.

Anyway, start by looking into who is even making pistons for the engine. Diamond is a popular brand. JEPistons can make anything custom, but it will cost you. Look to see their designs and select one based on the intended use. Usually compression ratio is the biggest factor, based on the amount of boost you intent to run.
