What kind of 60 foot times are average for slicks and radials each?

 

Ralli, how do you launch with the slicks? I just went to the track and got one good launch with my slicks. I pulled a 2.15 60' but only did that once. Rev'd up to 4K and "sort of" dropped the clutch. What's your clutch foot doing during the launch? (ie dumping clutch or playing it) I know you can rev higher on the launch with slicks opposed to radials, but I'm just looking for a little more on how to take advantage of the slicks. I usually bog.

 

i get everything else but havnt heard much about width of the steels or rims,what is the range that will fit the suggested dr's from ralliartist


also what about a 15 inch rim? hard time finding rims haha

Can you use Pontiac G6 steelies?
They would be at least 16".

 

I know of a slick that would be fine, mt et street, bias ply 11.5x26x17. It does fit on 17x8 rims, and its not really that wide of a tire even though its a 11.5.

 

so has anybody tried to fit 15" wheels on the SS/SC? I have a site that makes custom steelies and all you do is send them all sorts of dimensions of you hub, caliper, etc. Just wondering if anyone else has done it yet so i dont have to go through the trouble. Theres a lot more options for slicks on a 15" wheel than there are for 16"s lol

Yes its a Motorcycle tire but it has no problem working on a car

But make sure its the 3221 it is a load rated tire

I run them on my car on a Fast Salsa 17 " rim and no spacer is required

 

so would a slick 27" tall and 10" wide fit well?

 

depends on the actual dimensions. is it a 10" tread width, or 10" section width? are you on coilovers or factory suspension? running a spacer?

well whats the section width. with a 10" tread width you're getting into the territory of needing a 8" to 8.5" wheel. and anything past about 10.5" section width i'd run a spacer on my 555r's, 9.8" width, i've got about half an inch of clearance from the inside of the tire to the coilover

Do you have longer studs installed? Cuz from what I've heard there isn't much left to the wheel studs after installing a spacer. I'm just trying to figure out the largest slick I can fit on these cars and go from there. A buddy of mine is selling his Hoosiers for $50 and wanna try and get those. He's giving me the full specs of the tire today

you happen to have any pics of them, with slicks on and stock wheels on? How do the lugs fit with the extended studs, you have to get new lugs? One last thing lol, what size are your wheels for the slicks? Cuz I've heard if you run spacers and use 15" wheels you wont have to shave down the caliper.

 

you'll need open ended lugs with a bit that goes on the outside, not ones that require a giant alan key that goes in the middle and then attaches to a breaker bar. you'll need to shave the calipers with 15s regardless of a spacer or not. its the top of the caliper that needs to be shaved, not the side. right now i'm running a 26x11.5x16 ET street but once my 15s are made i'll be dropping down to a 26x10x15 hoosier, same tread width though

 

yeah, its like what 1/8 inch off the top. The ones I'm looing at are Hoosier 101802070, 27x10x15

found some really good used GOODYEAR Road Race slicks 27x10-15 D2602.. think those will do?
