Accidentally floored it in 5th. Bad?

So today I was accelerating hard up an on ramp onto the highway. I was in 2nd gear and reached redline, so I was doing about 100kmh, which would normally put me at around 2100 if I was in 5th gear. When I was at redline in 2nd I somehow managed to shift into fifth gear instead of third on accident. I then floored it again (obviously thinking I was in third) And noticed that I was at about 15-20psi boost but barely accelerating. It was then that I realized I was probably in 5th and immediately pulled it into neutral. So I was really only in 5th at probably a little over 2000rpm flooring it for a few seconds. But this still worries me. I dont remember feeling the clutch slip or anything, which probably means my clutch is in great condition. But this was a first for me, and Im nomally really careful with my shifting so its still sucks. Think I did any damage?

I put my foot to the floor in 5th every day on the way to work. Not so much on the way home.

1 time wont hurt anything. Do it a lot like that and you will need a new clutch though.

At least you now know your clutch is solid.

I just did the same thing....shifting into 5th from 2nd...no problem. This flooring in 5th paranoia is rediculous. You can only hurt the motor if you were flooring in 5th for at least 20 sec or so and that would only be if you were under load.. like climbing a hill and keeping well under 3000 rpms throughout most of the pull.

It's not bad..that's bull ****. ya just don't want to do it under load at lower RPMS (below say 2500) for an extended period of time.

it's hardly bs, but preach on brotha ronn..

Seriously though, WOT at anything under 4,000rpm in 5th gear is just asking for trouble. Once or twice by accident for a very short time, not so big of a deal. Make a habbit of being lazy and getting deep into boost that low in the rpm range with that much load on the engine (ESPECIALLY tuned).. absolute

I would love to hear the goofy logic behind this being bad...

Other than don't do it because some dude on the internet said that so it must make sense somehow

The old folks term is called "lugging it". The only reason why it used to be bad was because you would knock like crazy - that would eventually kill the engine. Except looking like a special education student and having an exhaust note sounding flatulent, I can't see how this would be a problem unless your tune is too radical to like it.

I'd like to hear the details as to why else this would be bad on the LNF.

yea, its not good for your clutch at all

its like spinning your hand on sand paper thats on a table top versus spinning your hand on sandpaper thats glued to the same table top....you will wear your skin off if you apply a lot of force in the latter case, in the earlier it will just spin the sand paper
