Top is the one that NEEDS to be upgraded. #1 they blow apart, and #2 the flow is horrable on the top one. The lower one not so much needed as flow is pretty good.

Pretty much 1. Much faster spool. 2. Louder spooling. 3. The ability to add a bov. If you dont want a bov then i dont think it would be worth it. I wanted a bov...so i got one lol

I really dont think the stock pipes usually break. Im pretty sure all the ones that break are in severe cold

if you look at a cross section of the plastic piece you can see it restricts flow as well compared to a tube one.
This isn't necessarily true. It's flatter in one spot, but also wider. I would be the volume is the same.

All those pictures are old. Show me one where the stock upper pipe was properly secured, but still blew.

So much conflicting information my head is going to explode.

I guess I'll just wait until mine explodes.

If you are on the stock turbo it doesn't really help you. You'll be fine on the stock charge pipes. Like it was said above if you don't have the clamp attaching the pipe to the block then you need to look into it, but if it was changed under the recall you'll be fine. I havent heard of anybody recently blowing one.

Stock is plastic because its better for heat. Metal transfers heat really well.

My stock plastic charge pipe was broken where the screw holds it to the engine when I bought it new, stock tune, stock boost, off the lot!!! I didn't even bother with warranty and bought an upper charge pipe, my first mod. To each his own, but when I bought the Injen upper charge pipe I definitely noticed the quicker spool. Advantages; as said. Disadvantages; higher engine compartment temps, but you can wrap it with header wrap. I.M.O. it was well worth it.......
