Anyone Roadrace cobalts
They are 17 x 9's off my Cobra... can you say tq steer?

Ever tried the Willwood 570 stuff? Our local shop does not carry my Motul RBF600 anymore, all they have is Willwood. Should I order the good stuff or can I try it?

Currently running Neosynth 610, but I'll probably switch to Endless soon when I do my brake line swap. Any of the high performance fluids like Motul, GSPerf, Neo, Endless, etc will all be just fine for a daily driver, and if you don't boil it (you'll know...) you can probably get away with just changing it once a year.

That cone is not long for life. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it got knocked over before lunch
Personally, I find that I prefer not having cones out for my students, even for the newbies. There are other more consistent ways of determining turn-in, apex, and track out points.

Just watched your video Venom9..... really great stuff here... this is what I want to do with it. The tracks I plan on attending are, Road America,(Elkhart Lake Wis.) Autobhan(sp),(Joliet, Illinois) MidAmerican Motorplex,(Pacific Junction,Iowa).
While my experience has been with Mustangs, this will be a different girl alltogether.
I might just take her out and see how she goes bone stock. I just bought the car as a new vehicle purchase a week ago and it has only 679 miles on it now. The dealer had the car for almost a year and was eager to unload it... not sure why.... GREAT little car, I just love to drive it. My mustang buddies are giving me a hard time with having it though.
So i am trying to get info on how to hop it up a little. So If you could any info or links to sites on suspesion, brakes, etc would be great.

This is a great track car stock if you just starting out. With the ESC on it is almost impossible to "loose her". A rear swaybar will help to rotate in the corners - just don't get carried away. She will be easier to lift/throttle oversteer with a bigger bar - great for me but was a little too much for some of my students at our last school.
My advice - get some "uber" streets (that's what we call the new max performance tires now) and first learn to drive her. She can be a monster on the track, trust me
I was in contact with John for a while about the bushings and stuff, but things did not work out as planned. So I am still stock and love it. She moves around a little when pushed hard but hey, I got used to her...
I road race but my chassis is basically stock with KDWs and a superchips tune. I change my fluids very early, and will change my brake fluid again after the summer is through.
I can't wait to get the new CAB on to get rid of this, and maybe dial in a bit more camber. Also, I agree that this car is a little beast on track. Super easy to drive fast, imo. Had multiple people ask me what the car was, since they were astonished, and this was on a big HP track (VIR full).
O.K heres another question......
Whats up with these GM compitition steering knuckles? Are the stock ones really that weak?
I read the bulliten and its for 05 -07 cars, so I had my GM buddy see what the regular production SS knuckle part numbers where to see if GM upgraded all SSs with the comp knuckle...No dice even the 08 and up SSs still retains stock knuckles. So what are the chances of busting a knuckle on a road course.... what causes them to break? hitting the rumble strips? See that on Cobra Mustangs with Independant rear ends.
I know that there are different alignment specs with these but it aslo states they are made stronger.

Knuckles: SC<Comp<TC
There was a thread that Powell posted up specifically about that topic a while back if I remember right. For some reason I seem to remember that the competition knuckles were modded G6 knuckles or something like that too.
Edit:
Found it... https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/suspension-67/thoughts-cobalt-front-suspension-202915/
Here's a pic of the knuckles. From back to front: SC... Competition... TC.
He remarks that the TC has the quickest steering ratio, comp next, and then SC, while the Comp seems to have the best casting.
Have you noticed on extended sweepers where you're able to go full throttle on track out that the tire feels like it suddenly rolls over? I couldn't figure out what was going on, til John explained that it was likely the soft stock lower CAB allowing the front outside tire to tuck in.

Like I said though, i'm taking this car step by step with the suspension mods. Until I actually get a feel for the car myself then i'll know what direction to take.
I wonder if there would be anyway to modify the stock CABs by injecting some sort of harder to stiffen it up... hmmm...
Never noticed the issue with the CAB on stock tires. 245 super sticky Kumho XS, whole other story. First session with the new tires I thought I was running way to low tire pressures and expected to see where I was rolling the sidewalls when I got off track, but, sidewalls looked fine.
Hmm, I have been considering changing to Motul RBF600 in the balt. Who makes SS brake lines for the TC? I need to change my pads and rotors soon, so I figured I would do a line and fluid swap as well. Not looking forward to forking over the cash for the stock rotors and pads though...
Ive used and am using ATE SuperBlue fluid, it's about $11-$13 for one liter of fluid and the dry and wet boiling points are pretty good for the price. But I just looked up some new fluid that has a dry boiling point of 683f and a wet of 439f!! Here's the link..

My brake fluid seems to end up sludgy and disgusting after a summer of lapping. Even my transmission fluid was very dark but still clean when I changed it this weekend. And I have lost faith in the Oil Life Monitor, I changed the oil at 67% (again) and glad I did it was black, ultra thin and felt ever so slightly off compared to the new stuff between two fingers. This **** was blacker than Westley Snipes. That's maybe 2,800 miles on what the factory calls for, good ol Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W30.
And I HAD the CAB issue, though being broke the dealer was kind enough to replace them for me. Mine were all...well banging around and squishy that made my car wander around after hitting a pothole or getting on it. That's 2400 miles of track time for you. I wore my Conti's out in a heartbeat last year, and I'll need new tires again probably in August. It's alot of fun but I think I should tell you certainly a pay to play sort of thing nothing like a friday night at the strip.

I'm on NT01, and I tried to shoot for 36 hot up front, but the problem was that my tires were still rolling over, so I bumped them to near 38-39, and similar in back. I tried a little more in back, but then it started bouncing around a little too much. The stock suspension is soft, and the back end bounces around quite a bit. Don't mistake it for oversteer, it's just unsettling. Stay on the go pedal.
I'm excited to drive on this track this Saturday. it'll be the first time racing besides the drag strip

I'll try that. Still recommended for someone who comes in fast and hard, beats the crap out of their brakes then turns in at the last possible second with weight on the front end? I drive it like I rented it...
Drive it like you stole is the wrong phrase, I mean would you act a fool in something you stole? But would you in a fully insured rental?

ya, high pressures in the rear for sure. With stock shocks I used to run 37f/48r now with the konis in the back at full stiff I can bring the rear pressures down to 42-44.
Oh, and use the super blue, you'll be glad you did. You can actually see when you have pumped all of the old fluid out.

Wangspeed, how about coming out to VIR in august for the TrackDaze event? I will be my first time on track there. I could use a good instructor.
Kumho XS 245/35-18, It is a little bouncy but stable it's the only thing I can do to balance the car our without a rear bar. Ya, the gators at CMP a terrible! The only ones I used to hit were turn 3 occasionally then I found a better line. Hit the pavers on turn in then then use every bit of curbing on the inside. Haven't been off on 14 yet *knocks on wood*

Funny you should mention TD. Jon Felton sent me an email about instructing for TD. I should be at the August event. Feel free to request me as an instructor if you like. I'll sign up soon.
