okay...talked to the dealer yesterday and they told me that they have 5 2008 Cobalt SS on order and the first 2 being delivered late Feb early March, they confirmed that they are the Turbo cobalts, i didn't talk to a sales person but one of the general managers about it, considering that they are trying right now to get rid of the last SS/SC (with LSD and recaro package) on the lot, it's sitting on the showroom floor and nobody wants it.

sorry bud Im gonna have to call BS on that one......the dealer is blowing smoke up ur ****......production starts 2nd week of march....no public production just the qualifiers.....and wont be able to order unitl the first week in feb maybe sooner if GM pushes out the paperwork to GMdealerworld, sorry to be the downer but its true.....I'm not sure if you remember or were on the site when the 1st cobalts hit, but I gave a lot of insight to when they would be released and ordered. so i'd tell your dealer to stop feeding you a line of crap

thats because they dont know that the turbo isnt available until the the second half of 08, otherwise they would have their fist one in about that time

Don't know if you can trust that info. I asked my dealer about the turbo 3 weeks ago and he just started telling me about how they got rid of the supercharged version, oblivious to its replacement by the turbo. Then he got mad like I was pulling his chain when I started giving him turbo facts. I don't get it, its a dealers job to know the cars they sell.

Even though the turbo motor has been out in other model cars, it will be he first for the cobalt model. I'm telling you that the first year model of any car has flaws and bugs. Some tuning issues, engine management, or even chassis problems. I never buy the first year of any model, but that is just me. I will wait a year for GM to fix any flaws before i would even consider the ss/tc.

I'm friends with the son of the owner of a GM dealer around me (Lannan Chevrolet), and his dad has been telling him that he thinks the 08 ss/tc will be out on the floor by mid may. They are saying the second quarter of 2008 so that sounds right.

Im absolutely blown away about how little car salesmen know about cars. When I bought my ss/sc I told him thats what I was looking for. He brings me over to an SS/NA and I told him "No, im looking for the SC version" He says "Ummmm no I think this one is the turbo one or supercharged. Its got like 250 hp, this thing really cooks" I say "No this is the NA one, this is not what im looking for" he says "Are you sure? I think ss means supercharged" I just rolled my eyes and told him I had to go. Went a few towns over and bought the SS/SC I was looking for. Then while I was getting my oil changed the other day, I was talking to a sales person about the TC and it started all over again. "Yeah its supposed to have like 350 hp" I just said "oh cool" rolled my eyes and walked back into the seating area...

When I went to buy mine the guy was saying to me, "we have the 4cyl supercharged over there" -as he pointed to the SS/NA - I said, "no, I want this one right here" and he goes "oh, this is the one with the high output V-6, not the Supercharged 4cyl you were talking about". What an absolute moron. I showed him the window sticker on it and he said nothing more to me for the rest of the night we were there. Did all of the paperwork with the manager. Who was still dumber than a box of hammers.

Seriously, Its not like I expect them to know who assembled my engine or how many square feet of carpet was used for the car. I would think they should know SOMETHING about the products they sell.
