Boost leak

How can I tell if I have a boost leak? Would an engine light come on? My caR seems like it's driving different and boost seems louder then normal and I noticed this weird noise every few seconds when my car is idling ?

you would seem your fuel trims go waaay off. most likely in a negative direction. then a CEL would pop up and the car would go into limp mode. You would then take it to the dealership and they would either find out that the intercooler is cracked and tell you that you abused the car and damaged the IC and not cover the replacement or the plastic nub for one of the vac lines snapped off and they would say you tried to modify your car to make more boost and again not cover the repair.

On the gauge shouldn't 100Kpa be atmosphere? I would think the gauge would show 200Kpa for 14.7psi.

I wrote a DIY thread for a boost leak test, but I don't know what happened to the thread. I'll try to find it. If the boost leak is big enough, you should be going into reduced power mode where you build about 5lbs at most, then none at all.

Psi to kpa is about psi x 7. Hitting 100 is about 15 psi which sounds right for stock if it holds there. I've found most boost related codes don't throw a CEL try getting it scanned to see if one is set.

alright thanks for the help. im not 100% sure if its a boost leak but the car will hold boost at 100 kpa but it just seems like its makeing more of a pshhh sound then it used to? and when i first got it in yesterday which is when it started acting weird it was almost like something was holding the car back? like i was towing something? this probably sounds dumb but i dont really know how to explain it

i took a video of the engine idleing after a drive down the road theres a different sound then when u just start it every maybe 2 secs theres a like a click? or something nd its perfectly timed everytime but it only does it after the car was driven not just started and let idle? this could be normal because i didnt have the hood poped after it was driven then stoped.just got the car 2 weeks ago so i dont know :S

anyone know how to upload a video?

Upload it to a youtube account, setup a link here, and the forum will setup the embedded player.
