Cams, NBS and KR
hey guys.
so my car has developed a serious amount of knock constantly according to my interceptor and hptuners and im trying to find out if its false or not. i just recently installed S2 cams with NBS. car was perfectly tuned on 93 and on E85 before with absolutely no knock whatsoever but ever since the cams went in it has knock non stop.
my question is, is it normal to be getting a ton of false knock when running bigger cams and NBS? i can feel the vibes inside the car so i figured it was enough to trigger the knock sensors. i have the sensors pointed at 9 oclock.
im currently working on the cars new 93 tune so it is currently bouncing around anywhere from E8 to E10 on my ethanol sensor. im wondering if the knock is gas related or not. brand new stock plugs gapped at 32 like ive ran forever. what do you guys think?

You need to make some semi serious adjustments for the s2 cams otherwise the eci throws KR codes. I had the same thing happen, KR a cruising speeds with s2 cams until I modified the cam timing significantly from my stock cam values.

It is a common issue to get “fake knock” with more aggressive cams. sounds scary but you may need to turn down your kr sensitivity as the cam clatter causes it to cut timing even with no detination. I think it goes without saying to dial back your timing to make sure it’s not legit and ramp it up slowly.
