I can swallow a $300 bill for exhaust with minor gains but when like ZZP and TurboXS are asking $450+.. yeah no thanks
When's that exhaust coming out?! and who sells it

madrelbentexhaustsystems.com

I've been emailing Josh from there the last week or so and he said this system isnt on the site YET (should be within a month), but its designed and ready to order if I'd want it. for $300 shipped I'll take a 304 stainless 3" with hangers and tip.. legit deal imo, just need to figure out a resonator to run on it, possibly a muffler, which i can just weld in myself if I want to at that point. First I'll see how the 3" straight pipe from the turbo back sounds, not getting my hopes up on it sounding good

for 300$ and if its too loud, slap a muffler on that batch and your still cheaper than most catbacks,i think.

my friend installed his hahn catless DP and catback on his SS/TC and after about 3-4 months he said it was to quiet.so he hacked the hahn muffler off and before he put the new high flow muffler on,he drove it around the block and said his cobalt sounded like a tractor lol

lol... yeah I'm running catless dp with stock catback and muffler delete right now.. its pretty close to what some would consider a tractor.. my buddy with an LT always calls it the tractor actually

but yeah I could easily toss a nice 24" cherry bomb glasspack in it or something and quiet it down quite a bit if I wanted to and still come in WAYYY less than ZZP or TurboXS sells their systems for

Pretty much what I have. Turbo XS catless dp. Stock catback with the muffler cut out and replaced with a cherry bomb style resonator. It's only loud when I want it to be. Running down the highway at 70 or so two adults can talk in a normal voice. It's not bad at all.

thats good to know. first I'll try running it 3" straight pipe.. if thats too loud (which it probably will be), ill toss on a nice long cherry bomb style resonator after the 3 bolt flange.. if its still too loud I'll toss on a turbo series muffler.. Ideally I dont want it any louder than it already is but I'm not sure how much upping the piping size affects sound.. guess I'll find out

biggest thing for me is the rear appearance honestly.. I want that muffler tucked away and nice and purrty.. with not having a rear lip I dont want to see some can hanging there like I was afraid of seeing on the TurboXS GT catback

Thread Bump: I'm very picky person when it comes to making a purchase decision.

Can anybody confirm or deny the similarities between multiple 3" exhaust systems for the LNF that they've heard in person? I've heard some people say before that they are all very similar sounding. Just looking for some outside opinions as I've never gone to a Cobalt meet and or heard other people's LNFs up close. I don't trust youtube sound clips either as I find camera quality plays too big of a factor in sound.

I'm honestly stuck between TurboXs and MPx for a variety of reasons. If it's true that they sound similar it would make my decision a bit easier.

I've heard that before, definitely not a bad thing- and something I'm taking into consideration. But I'm more looking for experiences of people who have first hand been able to hear the differences or lack of differences in person. But I am certainly not looking for it to be too loud, my stock with catless pipe is plenty loud for me.

TTT!

Someone on here must have owned or heard at least two different LNF exhausts in their life (preferably mufflered ones).

I have heard a ton seeing as I have tuned over 100 LNFs (probably close to 200 now). If you want quiet and mellow the Hahn catback with a catless DP is very quiet and deep but not loud at all really. Muffler delete I am not a huge fan of a little on the raspy side and a bit too loud for me. Most of the cars I have tuned are either muffler delete cars or hahn catback cars though. I had a mandrel exhaust systems catback on mine with a borla XR1 muffler and it would loud when on it but quiet at cruise.

I don't think I'll end up going with the hahn. While I know it sounds good I don't really want to deal with the issue of it clanking on the rear beam from being lowered. Muffler delete really isn't my style either. Basically the answer I'm looking for is: Will the similar exhausts (ie: 3" resonator, muffler) have different tones brand to brand or will they all be pretty much the same almost? Maybe I'm thinking too much about it.

Haha true. The turboxs one definitely sounds good in their clip, I just can't tell if video camera quality is superior or not haha. The reason I lean toward the MPx one though is because of pricing and I think it looks better. The turboxs one looks quite similar to stock I find.

Catless downpipe + muffler delete = loud and obnoxious = just the way I like it

cost me about $100 for a new tip and straight pipe section.

has anyone cut apart the stock muffler to see what it is?
I shined a strong flashlight through the tip and it seems to be a straight through design.

Thankfully chevy realized the restriction of a chamber muffler, specifically because of the no lift shift feature, some people that have used flowmaster/dynamax have blown muffler's in half no lift shifting because they aren't straight through.

Turbo cars hate chambered/baffled/louvered mufflers. I remember one of the first LNFs I dyno tuned like 5 years ago was Drewbroos car and the car just would not make over 278 whp and 320 wrtq no matter what I tried well eventually we threw his superchips tune back on the car just to see and it made something like 240 whp which was like 30 whp less than it made before. He ended up dropping the catback and the car went from 278 whp and 320 wrtq to 314 whp and 356 wrtq!!!! He had a done a mufler delete a few weeks earlier and was not happy with how loud it was with the catless DP so he had Midas weld a muffler on there. It turned out that muffler was a chambered or some hybrid chambered muffler on there and well it cost him over 30 whp and 30 wrtq!!!!!!!!!!!!!
