Cold start early morning=mad neighbors
There is no reason to sit around idling the car. It needs a little load to warm up the oil properly anyways. Sitting around idling takes too long, and quite frankly, I would be the one to go out and lecture someone for sitting around idling in a loud car. There's no need for it in a modern car.
You can **** off your neighbors, and say f'em, but you'll get everything you deserve when they do something to irritate you, and find that they don't care when you ask them to change their behavior.

me and my stoner friends used to chill in this parking lot by the tracks (very exciting, i know) and ppl would get off the train whenever and hop in their cars, start it, and by the time the key was turned over theyd be in reverse lolz
reminds me of this, just starts it full rev

I get in and start it, rev it to about 4500 and hold it there for 60 seconds. Then I drive off. Seems to work fine.
Edit: LOL I was writing my post while you were posting that video. Great minds man
Just kidding-I really just let it warm long enough to get my daughters seat belt on her and then go. I agree with everyone else that 4 minutes of warm-up is probably a little extreme. If you just take it easy until it warms up you shouldn't have problems and your neighbor will be happier. Plus think about how happy she'll be when you combine that courtesy with the proper dickin' that 07SSYellow described...

but what about when its -20 degrees outside? i don't wanna get into a cold ass car first thing in the morning! by the time it would be warmed up i'd be at work!
I hear on that one. I"m thinking about getting a seat warmer installed - already not looking forward to another winter.
You could try when David recommended then and back in. It might echo even louder but it's worth a try. Plus you'll be pointed the right direction when you have to boon through the snow to get out of your garage in the winter.

it gets into the 40's-50 degrees so i usually letit warm up until around 100-115 degrees. i saw her today and talked to her to but that thought is always in the back of my head ya know. i live back at my dads house (moved out for about a year but now im back at my dads house) and with my LS i had a high flow cat,no resinator and a high flow muffler lol and she never said anything then. i was just curious cause she is a really cool neighbor compared to some of the other POS's around my house. just getting some peoples opinions.
when i got the muffler delete,i was at work and i started my car and ran back into my work and as i was in my work a few guys i work with was like is that your car and thats when it kinda hit me that it was loud and then when i saw the neighbor lady lookin in her window it just made me think.
what do ya do. and its not like im going to do anything about it.

hahaha likin everyones opinion. on the warmer morning i usually dont let it idle for more that a minute or so but in all reality i prolly only let her idle for about 2 minutes. i wait until the vacum drop to 20then i go. i have about 2 1/2 miles on street to drive till i get to the free way,and by that time my car has been up to running tempature for a lil while.
im sure i will let it warm up for a couple minutes this winter when its 20 to 30 below zero.

I let mine warm up about 2 minutes tops. I cant just get in and drive away, because itll buck slightly and be hesitant even driving easily until temps get up to normal. this way of driving hasnt caused any issues in 5 years of owning the car so ill continue to do so.
Why do you wait to warm up the car? The proper way is to start it up, wait no more than 30-60 seconds for the primary O2s to go into switching mode, and drive off. Let the engine warm up as you drive. That is how the Europeans do it and they even recommend backing into your parking spot so you can just drive off in the morning to speed up warm up time.
My Ducati is cold-blooded. She does not like cold starts, so I have to idle her a bit longer but I found that I could keep the fast idle lever opened and just ride out onto the road for a few minutes to heat it up faster rather than **** off the neighbors with the 102 dB race exhaust.
Warming up the car before driving is important, especially in the winter. You do NOT want to start driving a car that has been sitting all night in subzero temperatures without letting it warm for a least a minute. The oil pressure will be so high b/c that crap will be like molasses in there. At the very least, drive grandma style until it warms up properly.
Don't forget, metal is not invincible. It goes from 0 to ridiculously hot in a matter of minutes and you don't want to push it while its doing that. Sure, it *probably* will never break anything but is it really that time consuming to sit there for 60 whole seconds? Yah..... I didn't think so...
