Dealer rotated my tires
umm are you kidding me. you can judge if your tires are low by looking at them. and things you run over unless its something massive will stay in the tire and cause a leak, causing your tire to go flat. your telling me if you look at your tire and its right flat you wouldn't know by looking at it. i do oil changes and tires all day long buddy, its what i do for a living. about the only thing you said that was any helpful was no you can't see exactly what you ran over but you sure as hell should be able to tell if your tires are getting low enough to damage your tire.

So your telling me you can tell the difference between 32psi and 29psi by looking at the tire?
No I am telling you that even if you inspect every square inch of your tire before a drive you will never find something you run over during that drive......and TPMS will warn you before the tire gets to point where most people can "feel" thats is lost any air.
I am happy you can make a lving changing oil and tires(its getting hard to do that) but its disturbing to know that you maintain other peoples cars all day long, and think a visual check of tire pressure is sufficient for saftey(or economy)

ok did i ever once say that a visual check of your tires is better then getting a tire pressure gauge and checking them to be exact. no i did not, and the difference between 32 and 29 psi is very miniscule and no even i wouldn't be able to tell the difference of that.
A reasonably accurate tire gauge runs about $10 and its important everyone own and understand how to use a pressure gauge.
The TPMS system is so much more accurate than your run of the mill pressure gauge. It also give you warning to when a tire is getting low while you drive, something a visual check cant do, THIS IS IMPORTANT, because while obviously even TPMS wont alert you youre about to have a blowout, they will let you know when a tire has lost as little as 2psi(compared to what the average person can visually detec as a low tire), so that you can pull over safely before a blowout occurs and determine if it will make it to a service station or if you need to change tire right there, also pulling over with air in the tire is important in new vehicles for another reason, it allows the tire sealant youll need to use a better chance of helping you, because once you drop a bead, youre screwed with a sealent kit.
i'm glad you like to think you know what i go through at work.
I dont know how a site with a membership predominantly made up of 16-25yr old males can be so "old school" when it comes to technology, its not like we are talking about somekind of BS sales feature that exists solely for its own sake, this is a tried and true, very effective system that is an excellent safety as well as pefromance/diagnostic tool. I am constantly amazed at the ignorance and closed mindedness of so many in our community.
IMHO I'm glad I don't have the TPMS, but it's personal preference. Would have rather seen it mandated as a no-cost option for those that want it, but just like airbags, ABS, and stability control, not everyone sees those as a personal benefit.
my new escalade doesnt like to relearn the tpms by air release, so i bought a trigger.
my dealer wanted 1 hour to do it. a couple days after i got the tool, a buddy came by with his 07 silverado and complained that a DEALERSHIP rotated his tires on the LOF rack and his computer said rear tire low, and it was his front. i schooled him on it, reset him, and sent him on his way.
Hey dealer techs screw up all the time too, except if they know you it seems.
when the new motor went in my cobalt, the tech didnt ziptie up the option B line by the rad support and it hit the charger pulley, he didnt route the wiring harness correctly, didnt install the little grey connector locks on connections, didnt put on fusebox cover correctly water got it, had my wideband line ( which was neatly ziptied up and pushpinned to frame rail) wrapped around the downpipe, broke my backup switch connection off my tranny, and left oil all over the place under the car. before i took it in, i put it on the hoist and degreased--scrubbed/ pressure washed entire undercarriage. he gapped my plugs to .060, and i cant remember what else. oh yah, the biggie. flashed it to stock 2.0 car instead of stage 2 car. rich as hell, i had to take it away and read computer, figure out wtf they did, and reflash it at the hospital parking lot. or the other time they tried to align my car and it came back worse than io took it in and 65 more km on the clock. i took it to my dads rack and did it myself.
ooh, and they did a 2 wheel align on my awd silverado ss, and tried to tell me they adjusted the rear axle. at the same time, i had them change all oils to syn, and when i got it back, i put it on the hoist to find they didnt change the diffs or transfer case, and charged me for it. it had to go back, but the top tech swore he did it, till i made them dump some oil before my eyes. and i was right.

sorry for the rant, but all of it cant be Standard Operating Procedure can it? surely, a man working flat rate could easily skip these small things as the end result would still pass...for now.
i agree with maven but a good tech will make sure that the vehicle will leave running properly because a flat rate tech that gets come backs doesn't make much money as they don't get paid for their come backs.
i did the fixes myself, as it was faster to rectify on the hoist, opposed to delivering/pickup of it and bitching.
i have had a lot of cars and seen a lot of ****. i always double check, as it never hurts to have another set of eyes looking for the unusual.

Clearly not performing services you paid for is inexcusable if it was intentional. Flat rate or not the work needs to be done. As far as the tie wraps and poorly routed wiring, thats not SOP either obviousl, but it is unfortunately not too out of the ordinary. Lots of techs are perpetually lazy or careless, and even the best of us are from time to time distracted or forgetful.
Sorry the :sarcasm: smilie wasnt working.

Looks like the guys in alberta have issues...you dont name the dealer...there is no guarantee that the same guy put the thinhg back together who took it apart, and it is a good bet it was the first one he did that work on. Flat rate sucks...but pay attention outyourmind (tis true) if you decide to call out Maven coz if you do, you clearly identifiy yourself as a ( how can i say this politely? )a less than worthy person. In the east we call folks like this jackass...
