Are dealers farmiliar with the GMS1 tune upgrade
ecm updated?
you mean reflashed?
if you haven't been reflashed, going into boost with the GMS1 MAP's will put you into limp mode ~ because the values are read differently....
after you've been reflashed, you can make boost, and the gauge will show it, and you won't be in limp mode.

x3! i want to know if my buddy (who works at the dealership) can do this on the side for some cash instead of paying a hour or 2 of labor. idk what has to be done to 'reflash' the ECU but i can imagine it would be to crazy
the tech has to get the reflash from GM - using your code and car's vin.
yup.

That post of mine which you quoted gives you the warranty info ~ it was in fact specifically about the GMS1 on the Cobalt!
you can even buy just the upgraded MAP's and CED pigtails (because the plugs are different) ;
BUT!!!
When you change MAP's the resistance values for any given vacuum/boost are read differently - so the tune has to be calibrated to the MAP's being used.
the only thing that could be used against you is hte CED pigtails ~ and only because they're not *official* GM parts;
but even still, any problem resulting in warranty work would have to be clearly show to be at the fault of the pigtails...
A it happened I messaged Tom last fall about advice for making my own plug & play pigtials (looking for his "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" on if I had selected the correct male and female ends ~ when he told me that he was in the final phase of testing his pigtails ~ which he subsequently started selling...
I don't know if I was the first person to get these, but I was definitely one of the earlier guys to get a set.
Tom & CED FTMFW!
dealers don't get informed of every upgraded part that comes out. It's basically that they're all qualified to install it but don't expect them to be experts just because they work at a GM dealership. Most just get general training in the car, then anything else they have to rely on experience and the detailed instructions GM gives them. It's not exactly a difficult install so any should be able to do it, especially if you get the kit from CED with the wiring adapters.
