GM Stage 1 Tune?

Two part question...

While reading these forums, I am learning more and more about my new SS/TC. One thing I found out is that there was an option upon purchase to have GM tune the SS/TCs for some extra horsepower (not sure how much horsepower...I am guessing 15-30). If this is the case, is it still possible to get them to do this? If so, how much money will GM charge to do so? Are there cons to doing this tune (I initially planned on keeping my SS/TC stock).

It keeps your warranty. I have GMs1 and love it. I know there are others that are much cheaper, but I wanted to maintain my warranty as it is a 2010 and still has some left on it from where I bought it.

GMS1 is two sensors and a retune. It'll give you 280 hp and 320 tq and 3 bar MAP sensors. Buy the kit from crateenginedepot.com for $500 and you have to get the dealership to install it for you for 100 - 200 bucks depending on their shop rates. You keep your warranty only if it is dealer installed.

Only downside is the money you pay for the power you get from after market tunes is abysmal but keeping your warranty is important too.

Crate Engine Depot has a version of the kit with jumper wires, no crimping or soldering required. I would go with that.

I have GMS1 and love. cons is that it's less power than a custom tune and usually more expensive plus you get very little gains if anything from modding but it keeps your warranty.

X infinity.

Stage 1 kicks azz - I like my warranty, thank you !

The connector harnesses were not offered when the kist 1st came out, but it is a great idea as there is no cutting of your wiring harness.

And, if you ask for your old sensors back, you will have the ability to give any future owners all the original parts less the programming.

I can't think of any cons other than additional tire wear, and on the highway the potential is there for better mileage than stock.

Win win all the way around.

My .02 - Britt

GMS1 says it gives a 20HP and 60TQ increase. My dyno results showed an increase of 47HP and 72TQ at the wheels! Both dyno runs were on the same dyno.

Stock = 221WHP and 219 WTQ
GMS1 = 268WHP and 291 WTQ

just sayin'

Go with CED. i bought the GMS1 kit for $560 with duty paid and paid $76 for install at the dealership.

dealership wanted $900 plus taxes for the upgrade kit alone.
