How'd you blow the HG?

Procedure is exactly the same as any other ecotec motor. Remove piping and manifolds, valve cover, front timing cover, timing chain, head bolts, lift off head.

Also when putting the head back on remeber inside out, i'll try and find the pattern chart for torquing

Make sure you retorque the head if you use those... Most people don't.

i did an additional 70 degrees, as that is what they instruct you to do

good deal. fifteen years ago what BYT said would absolutely be true, but technology and heat treatment practices and lots of testing have come to the conclusion they can nail down the correct clamping pressure right out of the box.
