Anyone have any idea what this ring is for? I am replacing the timing chain kit and this fell out as soon as i took the bottom cover off. It was sitting on the oil squirter for the chain. thanks

 

Could be from your front cover, could have seperated from one of your gears, could have just been dropped in my someone previously doing work on the car and just never recovered; hard to say since I can't get a real sense of the scale of it from your picture.

I might be blanking on it, but I've disassembled a literal handful of blocks, and I can't think of a time that I've had to mess with a ring like that.



I can check my collection when I get home today.
