How to determine options from the VIN?

I located a 09 Cobalt SS at a dealership a couple hours away. It's a really good price, but they are a little sparse on details of options. Isn't there a way to tell what factory options it has by looking up the VIN? I need to know if this car has a limited slip differential (absolute requirement for me).

I can't help you with respect to running the VIN, but if you're heading to see the car... Look in the trunk, under the carpet on the left-hand side (by the subwoofer). There's a sticker underneath with the car's options listed. The code for the LSD is G85.

Ok, thanks. Not planning on wasting my time going to see it unless it has LSD. Guess I'll call and ask the salesman to check. It'll be a test to see how bright he is and whether he can find the sticker.

If you go on chevy.com and build the car you want(that car) and use the zip code based "locate a vehicle" feature and use the zip where the car is located it will pull up the window sticker and full option list for the car.

I already tried that, the dealership is listing it as used. That feature apparently is only for new.

Sunburst, I'll send you a PM. Thanks.

Sunburst, thanks for helping me out. I owe you a favor. Good news, this car does have the LSD.
