if you use NLS when your clutch is starting to slip, will it redline?
i only use NLS when im having a close race with someone. anyway, against a camaro... i NLS from 2-3 and notice that my rpm jumps to redline real quick then jumps down. normally the rpm just goes right down since its in the next gear, and doesnt redline (mines set at 7k)
ive used NLS tons of time, so i know how to do it. anyway, i think my clutch is starting to slip a little too. (noticed this today on a 3rd gear pull at 60mph ever so slightly)
would a slipping clutch cause my rpm to jump up to redline for a sec when i use NLS?
if i cant figure it out im probably going to stop using it till i get a zzp stage 4 clutch.

Its probably slipping I have made my hyper single slip from spinning in second and shifting into 3rd to soon. It will be at 26psi of boost and its too much tq at low rpm but it only happened a few times. I would drive it really easy for awhile and it will deglaze your clutch and will get you by till you get the stage 4.
if your on a stock with a 30psi tune I'm surprised it's lasted this long. when first got my zzp PCM it was their 22psi tune but had a 26-28psi spike. I think I got one or two pulls in without slip lol. but all my slip was coming from the spike, if your holding 30psi further towards redline you probably will experience more slip.
Didn't you just get new tires with more grip? They killed your clutch and you were spinning before instead of slipping. You should have no problem NLS @ 6k if your doing it fast enough cause I know I never had a problem doing it before redline.
They will slip with enough power and I know 09pshhh or whatever his name is has had his slip also. It grips like crazy but has slipped on rare occasion.
Im in the stock clutch. Lol. I just read somewhere that sometimes when you nls your tach will just jump to redline real quick then drop down. When mine doe it it sounds like a normal nls. No bouncing off the recline. Ill get a vid later. Oh yea, my map sensor is blown too.
maybe I should get that fixed before I race again. Parts in the mail
Here's a vid. Notice how the nls sounds properly done but the rpms jump. Also that is wheel spin not clutch slip in 2nd gear.

everything sounds fine to me. i think when you nls that low it doesnt pull timing and hold the rpm like it would if you nls'ed at redline, so you wouldnt really be nls'ing but powershifting. or i could be totally full of crap, thats just my theory.
The video you posted is showing you powershift. Mine did that when I raised my redline to 7k and tried nls'ing towards 6200 rpm. Doesn't work.
I agree here. i haven't nls'd in a long time but if i did and short shifted it the rpms would spike just like yours did
Mine does the same thing as darts, sound and everything. So wut it seems like people are saying is nls'ing w a 7k redline should be done closer to the redline?? Cuz ive always nls'ed between 6-6.5k even on my old tune.

Hmm, if I NLS too early, I don't get the exhaust gurgle, instead I get only the BPV sneeze. My RPM also don't jump up past the point where I shifted either. Perhaps yours being custom tuned is doing that because the NLS point is still set to 6250, but the vehicle is allowed to rev to 7000? I suppose this depends on how the NLS algorithm works at the ECM level. Does it just look at redline - x, or is it a solid value range that can be adjusted seperately?
