Who did you contact at K&n about this intake? I am dealing with a guy in the RnD department about sending me a prototype also.

Ban me. That would be fun. I buy from TTR all the time, just don't like whining from a vendor.

May sound like a dumb question.. I'm sure i'm missing something here...

How did the stock cobalt dyno
197.37hp
225.25lbft

That's a 25% drivetrain loss

those numbers are only at 4,600rpms.. keep reading the graph, it climbs higher as the rpms hit close to 6k rpms. so in reality is shows it hit close to 250hp and 250tq with just the intake.

I don't understand how there can be a power increase through the entire range if the ecu controls the maximum (airload)? It would make more sense(to me) if the graph showed better power up to the 260 max and then no gain.

Disclaimer: Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about?

I think what we are seeing here is a bone stock SS T/C with the K&N intake installed on it and then the OEM intake air box on it. They cant compare PEAK HP because the ECM will not allow more Torque/HP to be produced then what is programmed into the airloads.

So they are showing the gains they got in the lower power band from this intake. basically, for those who get this intake, they will get more hp through the entire powerband up to the 6100rpms where the power dies too 250hp (stock whp).

Anyways, thats how I see it. The same goes for anything else that allows the engine breathe more freely... the power band gets a bit fatter but cant surpass the peak HP unless the car in tuned.

I agree, you wont see the real gains unless you tune with it. without the tune the intake will only make it easier to get to the rated horsepower. I have a triffecta tune so once i get the intake on which its in the mail, I will try and get a dyno and data log.

K&N only makes this one intake for the SS/TC... It would be for part number 69-4518TTK (The one this entire thread is about)

I do realize that, but in the description of the intake on their website it mentions all 3. I figured it was probably just a general description for the typhoon, but why put it there to confuse people?

Yeah, we will be stocking these, and if we get enough interst we will do a group buy, and when we do it will be the lowest price out there.
