haha Im working on that. At 45 degree angle for stft's, I get 7.0 to 8.0 when throttling and when cruising I get -7.0 to -9.0

By far, this is the worse way to have your intake situated. My ltft's however = -3.1

Im going back to the 90 degree angle maybe. is negative better to have than positive fuel trims?

Overall, the closer to zero, the better.

If you have to pick being off one way or the other though, pick negative. That means that you're rich and taking out fuel to compensate instead of being lean and adding fuel to compensate.

Sorry if I missed it in any of the other number of threads on the K&N filter. But for those of us who don't have the bracket/bolts on our cars, does K&N have a solution for that now?

Sweet! I know you're like the guinea pig for this haha. Is that the part, the bolt that's screwed into the hose?

That's what I thought it was. Thanks for clearing that up. How does it attach to the plate?

My car and many others don't have the plate.

The new bracket bolts to the valve cover like you see in the pic

Just wondering with the fuel trims, what is the stock air box, is always at zero or is it positive or negative at times? Really is there a big diff. between k&n and factory?

Well Cuda Joe there is something to this filter position, With the filter hole at the top of the inlet ltft's were +7, I rotated it 90 deg and drove 40 some miles mixed city and highway and now ltft's are at +0.8 with very little shift on stft's aswell. I then just now went to the k&n video install in the other lnf section and that is how they have it also the hole more towards the bottom and the bulge at the top. Also look at the pic on the first page of this post the original beta tester is the same way. Good observation on the fuel trims and thinking of switching the filter, I was very skeptical about this but you were right. Will keep monitoring the trims over a longer period of time.

hahaha, yea. I told ya. I noticed it when I took the intake out and reinstalled it and put the filter in so that it was further away from the engine. filters back to 9 o'clock (when facing the car) right now my car shows a -8.0 ltft. and for stft's, I get somewhere between -3.0 to -6.0 when cruising. BUT when WOTing it or just throttling it, it corrects to 0.0 exactly. not higher or lower. pretty neat!

I'll be ordering the filter that comes in the kit tomorrow to see if it does the same for my cia sri. Possible cheap fix for airflow

Im no scientist (actually...I am) but I think this phenomena has something to do with the fact of how the filters location is like an inch or two from the sensor on top of the fact that rotating the bulge of the filter upwards allows the air coming through the slit of the hood to enter the filter. Rotate the filter down and less air rushing through the slit of the hood (where it meets the bumper) reaches the filter.

Basically I dunno what kinda results could happen on the CIA, but your welcome to try it and let us know.

I called K & N about the intake tube bracket that is supposed to be on some of our cars,it is not on mine and they have told me when they come out with a bracket it will be shipped to me.Also I gather from what I am reading that I should rotate my filter so the bulge is at the top,for proper air so to speak. Can anyone tell me if this has in fact improved the response or performance of the SRI?Thanks

User error.

What code did it give you? Since it ran good for a while i would say it is possibly something came loose. Maybe a connection or something. Pull the code and see what it says first.

Yes dramatic difference mine after turning the filter the right way up. After 250 miles is +.08 ltft and was 0 a good part of the day the most ltft got to was +3.9 and that was when I was doing a lot of pulls checking some things. The stock box and filter ss/tc we checked was at -4.7 ltft's so I am really happy so far.

So with regard to the location of the cone filter, the bulge connection part of the filter would be at the 12 o'clock position which would put the flat side at the bottom,is this correct? Thanks
