I started with injen but kept getting ceo codes so swapped it with modern performance for.the k&n and it set the cel off till I clocked in in a few different positions.11 worked good for me with no knocking. I also run only.93 since I.don't trust 89 in anything except my trailblazer which gets 87 and 89 no 91 around here that I have found. I was going to get the forge but.figured the oil catch would be a better investment at the moment since I only have 23k on the car and helped a lot with my TA.

I've since confirmed that my filter is rubbing. I think it has more to do with the position of the filter at 12:30. I'm going to try and reposition the intake tube slightly to see if that can buy enough clearance.

I'm pretty sure you can get rid of the cold start cat warm up ..... It was tuned out of my car by Trifecta.

These car's are so maf sensitive that I'm not surprised that people have issues .... when I was running the superchips canned tune ....just a K&N air filter threw the trim's to -10 LTFT .

I have a K&N intake coming this week so it will be intresting to see how bad the trims are until I have the tune adjusted.

Ditto, absolutely no problems with it. Guy above should double check GMS1 install and filter placement, sounds like something else is off.

I had it on for 4000kms so give it some more time it's only on the cold starts it would mess up it's weird i've had 2 intakes on the car both installed by a good mechanic i have a truck and a another i run cold airs on both with full exhaust with no problems he installed, It worked amazing for awhile then started losing power nasicly and misfires on cold starts just like the aem did i bought hp tuners new beta be here in a few weeks i put the stock air box on works good agaain but basicly unless you have a way to log your car i don't see how you could know that your not having issues already a cel don't show up for every misfire on this car for some reason but it will if you scan it!

Doesnt the intake already have a "legal in 50 states" badge on it? I forget its been a while since i checked the little plaque on it.

if it does id just refer to that if questioned.

More states are probably adopting California's emissions policies, or something very close to it. Some of their stuff has been approved by CARB, but definitely not all. It's a hell of a process. (those who spent months waiting anxiously for GMS1 are well aware!)

finally installed my k&n this past weekend after its been sitting in my room for about 6 months. first impression was holy **** it is waaaaay to loud at cold start up. i was in my garage and i cldnt even talk to my friend standing right next to me. but after 2 mins it becomes almost silent. then i gave it a few revs and it sounds amazing. im not a fan of squeaky loud BOVs so IMO the noise the bpv makes is perfect, just a nice clean whoooosh. however, i am still a lil disappointed that the annoying panda sneeze/barking noise is still there at higher boost under load, it just sounds upsetting and weird haha. Another thing i like is the loud turbo spool, it is like a suspenseful build up to the whooosh. haha. Only thing im concerned about is the fitment. Then pipe might not actually rub up against anything but it is extremely close to the firewall, like less then 1/8", and close to one of the mounting studs that holds the heat shield on, about an inch or so. This normally wld be ok, but the intake is mounted to the motor and those spots are fixed on the chassis soo when the motor rocks back and forth, which it will esp under hard driving, that pipe it going to smack the firewall and possibly the stud. Hopefully im wrong and everything will be ok but just something to look out for.

Summary:
Pros:
Amazing bpv sound (loud and clean at idle or medium boost)
Nice loud spool up
So much fun to drive
Cons:
Annoyingly loud at cold start up (not noticeable inside the car, but next to it or under the hood it is loud!!!)
Annoying bark frm bpv still there, and louder, at high boost under load.
Fitment is very tight but it does clear so only time will tell if this will be a problem.

There has been one K&N install that i've seen where it actually hits that stud and put a hole in the metal pipe of the intake. Keep an eye on that. fitment isnt gonna be directly the same on all cars nor will every single intake made be exactly identical when it comes to installing. If it hits, contact the company you bought it from.

As for your other cons there:
cold starts are loud on any car with a metal tube intake. that also includes other intakes on this car. You can get that cold start deleted with a tune.
the bark wont go away with a new intake. that noise is coming from the BPV. Your only solution is to get a mario coin/ "squeeky" aftermarket BOV.

Forge BPV seems to mellow out the bark, mine seemed to sound a little different compared to stock, i'm convinced that the stock rubber unit causes surge over about 8lbs...

hahahaha at "mario coin", i like that lol... but yea loud cold start ups will happen with any intake, i was just noteing it. I had the injen intake when i first bought that car tho and it wasnt as loud, maybe slightly less. if i rem correctly. but the louder bpv sound more then makes up for the loud cold start up. its honesly not even noticable on the inside of the car. just be aware, if u start gettin weird looks from ppl walking buy when u start ur car it might be cus they r going deaf haha

I ended up getting mine about 2/3 of the way in. After that it was so tight that I was afraid the round off the plastic hex. I figured if it was that tight it wasn't going to leak or come loose. I still check it from time to time though just to be sure.

it just needs to be snug, dont over tighten it. You want it to seal so no air gets by that it. Its not going to experience any pressure or anything.

u guys really shld not have a problem with throwing cels with just an intake haha. unless u break something during the install haha. only problem u might see is ull be throwing ur fuel trims off, but u wont physically be able to notice that beside maybe some pops and crackles from the exhaust. This can also lead to reliability issues down the road but nothing to worry about in the short term. Also, if u have the gms1 tune, i have no personal experience with it but i have heard that it is much more picky then the stock tune and u might experience more of a problem, probably just larger deviations in ur fuel trims not like cels or anything, Although from wat ive heard gms1 gets very cell happy when u start modding with it. This is all hearsay tho so i wouldn't worry about it. Just something to keep in mind in case u do run into a problem.
