Any ideas when this SRI will be released? This wait is getting old fast...

Because of the distance from the filter to the sensor?

Same sort of thing happend with GMS1 but according to those that have it, it was worth the wait

I waited for the GMS1 & it was well worth the wait. But I didn't wait for this. It was too long.

Sub'd... finally.

If they made the end of the pipe inside of the filter a velocity stack and stuck a screen/straightener on it, then I think this instake could be win all the way around. All they have to do is make a trumpet-ended screen/straightener that slides over the filter end of the tube inside of the filter and call it a day I would think.

So, that mesh screen in my old LT1 Camaro was there to limit turbulence? I always wondered what that was for.

Yes, partly because of the distance between the filter and the sensor and partly because it appears that the intake is smaller than stock at the MAF and that will also cause skewing of the MAF. It is like that with any SRI. The stock airbox has the filter close to the MAF so what makes it different? Well because in this case we have a flat panel filter where the flow is strait through the filter and directly toward the sensor. In this case the position of the filter and the filter itself helps keep the airflow uniform and helps prevent turbulance at the MAF. When you put a cone type filter on the airflows through the sides of the cone filter and then into the intake tube. Because the air is now flowing into the intake at a different angle the airflow is no longer hitting the sensor the same way it should which is strait on. Now we have turbulance issues at the MAF. Locating the MAF on a long strait portion of the intake a good distance from the filter helps ease this turbulance issue but does not completely eliminate it. I am waiting for this intake to come out and hopefully someone with HP Tuners will log it to confirm or dispel my suspicions.

Yeah. Some people removed it to try to get more flow, thinking that it impeded flow a bit, but found it didn't run well when they did that.

So, until this k&n can be tested, hahn's intake would be the way to go? Maybe it would be a good idea for me to wait until this comes out and is logged and dyno'd before purchasing an intake? I am very curious to see how this k&n will perform.

When K&N started the intake for the SS/SC it took them about 1 year, Honestly would not doubt that these wont be ready to sell until this coming fall/winter...

Alright, who's going to be the guinea pig to test this thing out. If it works better than the other intakes on the market, I'm in for getting one. However, I'm not getting my hopes up.

its not a cel issue with 99% of the intakes. its the ltft and stft fluctuation. you can have a intake with no cel and horrible ltft's that dont make any power on your car.
