Key stuck in ignition... Warrantee\recall?
Key stuck in ignition... Warrantee\recall?
Key stuck in the ignition this am!! Just wondering if this is a part dealers will replace even if your modded... My dealer won't even look at me cause I'm bolted.. Is this any type of recall?
your mods will not affect the key being stuck because i'm sure you didn't mod that specific piece and an engine mod would NOT affect a mechanism in the cabin of the car. if they tell you they can't because you're modded. just show them this...
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))
This federal law regulates warranties for the protection of consumers. The essence of the law concerning aftermarket auto parts is that a vehicle manufacturer may not condition a written or implied warranty on the consumers using parts or services which are identified by brand, trade, or corporate name (such as the vehicle maker's brand) unless the parts or service are provided free of charge. The law means that the use of an aftermarket part alone is not cause for denying the warranty. However, the law's protection does not extend to aftermarket parts in situations where such parts actually caused the damage being claimed under the warranty. Further, consumers are advised to be aware of any specific terms or conditions stated in the warranty which may result in its being voided. The law states in relevant part:
“No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumers using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name...” (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).

i dont think you even need a warranty... but im not sure since i got mine replaced within my warrany period. and i drove up in there with my turbo kit and catless exhaust. smelled that drive thru right up lol
They said some had a recal but my year and vin wasn't on the recall.. Which is retarted cause it broke anyway if it was recalled in another cobalt and my broke on biofuels they didn't fix the recall problem!!
They probably did a running change at some point and recalled everything before that. Recalls usually only cover a few cars not all of them.
They might still fix it as a good faith type repair or whatever gm calls it.

I take the black cover off ? And I'd see it? This is ridiculous! I wonder if I bitch them out if I could get it
If not anyone know how to fix this by themselves? What I need to order?

my key sometimes doesn't turn, does this 'recall' extend all the way to the 06 cobalts?
then again i kinda like my setup, i can take out my key while its running and exit the car and lock it to leave it warming up

my wife's hhrss had 90k on it and it got stuck. would not turn. they payed for the tow truck, rental, and fixed it. however, we had gotten a letter in the mail about 2 weeks before it happend and they said just to bring the letter.
tumbler in your ignition broke. Mine did too. They tried to tell me its a warrantied item and since Im past my warranty I would normally have to pay BUT they did a good faith repair -_- ....
I printed out the TSBs for the ignition lock and brought them in and everything and was ready to raise hell. If they will not fix it, talk to a GM service rep. Sarah. Talk to Sarah.

Well the one delete basically told me go kick rocks.. I called another and they told me they will pay for the part if I pay labor... I guess ima just go with that
all dealers around me suck ass!!! I'm making a complain to the one dealer.. And the one that's gettin me the ignition cylinder is only doing it if I fill a survey out that says I got 100% gauranteed satisfaction.. So they keep they're 100% rating.. They said the recalls are vin specific..
The dealer I work at will do good faith repairs most of the time if it's a good customer, then again I work at a Honda dealer. On the plus side for me is that the same guy also owns the Chevy dealer down the street from me and they hook me up.
seeyaass,
Sorry it took me a bit to jump on the thread! It sounds like you've already found a course of action with a local dealership, but if you want for me to check into anything further I'm definitely available. Please send me a private message with the last 8 digits of your VIN and contact information.
