me vs a 03 cobra
ok, im not trying to start a war here, but im just asking how you got to that conclusion. how do you think a cobalt could make up for a 200whp difference? the 600lb difference in weight will not be enough to overcome that, plus once youre moving the weight difference doesnt mean much. that just seems a bit off bc 200whp is a HUGE difference.
hey i'm not either i'm just saying lol. you figure i have a verified timeslip on a 620hp cobra, and it is running a 10.9, take away 120hp, whats it running, 11.5-11.9's probably? idk i dont have a timeslip for that so i'm just educated guessing. but cobalts are running 12's with just a tune and such, and from a roll you eliminate the launch and shave a lot of time off of what would be at the track, time spinning, bad launching, and all that, that is still netting 12's.
that's why i wouldn't call bs off the bat lol.

i just did a quick search on youtube and cobras with roughly 500whp net traps of 122-124mph most cosistently. some are higher and a few are lower, but i just took the average. i dont know of any slips on here that are over 120mph traps. correct me if im wrong.
*i just want to make clear im not bashing cobalts here, just having a good solid conversation.
i got that much, but you also have to remember that the cobalts that are netting 12's, which is still very few (like 8 maybe) by ralliartists thread, are using slicks. at best without slicks the best time was a 12.6x.

the other guy he can speak for himself, but like i said i don't see it being TOO far fetched depending on driver and whether the kid is exaggerating a 2 car pull for a 1. too many variables with no video = fail.
Or maybe the guy in the cobra exagerated the power he's laying down? Hard to say, but all I heard when I raced this guy was the whine of his super charger. Couldn't even really hear his exaust. Maybe he was already heat soaked to hell? Maybe the 5k+ elevation was raping him? Who knows. But I do know he only took me by a car in 1/4 mile pull.
btw, skip jones was hitting 12's on the stock conti's :P

a 1/4 mile roll? lmfao. do you realize how fast a 1/4 mile goes by from a roll? a 1/4 mile would pass before you even get halfway through 3rd probably. now you are making your story less believable...
MPH doesn't always mean a better 1/4 mile time. After my turbo swap when I was still having some issues, I ran a 14.1@123 on my setup. That's as fast as a cobra mph wise, but it was too slow to build the initial momentum. Cobalts with the smaller turbo have EXCELLENT low and mid range power. I know every time I run a cobalt with the stock turbo and a tune, it will have me all the way till about 1/2 way through 3rd for me. So I could see the Cobalt keeping up with the cobra. I've learned that when dealing with front wheel drive cars as drag cars, whatever they run on the strip, take 1 second off of that and that is roughly the speed of the car they will keep up with from a roll. So if the Cobalt is running low 13's, an un tuned cobra would be running low 12's high 11's, thus the race would be kinda close.
no tune he shouldn't have pulled that bad lol idk
ik theres one here with a kb upgrade and all the supports putting down mid 600's and he runs high 10s...
edit. it's whippled @ 620rwhp/590rwtq. 10.97 @ 127mph
i think that mustang was lying a lil unless op can't drive lol.

10.90's @ 127mph just goes to show the person either A. wasn't able to hook or B. Can't drive
Also, a pullied/supporting bolt ons Cobra is going to RAPE a 300whp+ SS/TC. Stop looking at the weight difference and peak numbers. The Cobra has more torque off idle than a full bolt on LNF does, on race gas/full tilt. Couple the stump pulling torque with the fact that the HP is going to be VASTLY superior, everywhere in the power band but it also doesn't fall off.
I speak from experience here. My Sedan is plenty capable and my brothers pullied/bolt on/ *tuned* Zinc Yellow 03 would make me look silly.
You do realize there are stock (ported) blower 03/04 Cobra's in the bottom-mid 10's.. Right?

Who said anything about weight differences? I sure didn't. But if this cobra was pulleyd with no tune there's no way in hell it shoulda pulled like that.
ok now i know im going to get beat on this one but what do i need to beat or even stay even with him not on the track eather. my mods are a trifecta tune 25psi injen charge pipe and zzp catless dp. my ss is a 4dr. his mods pully cat back and UNTUNED
just looking for some insite

Just thought i wood post a cobra story , first off these cars are insane end of story. My former boss had an 03 cobra. He had a pulley intake full exhaust and like a sct or jet chip sumthin like that, it went high11s on slicks. I love my turbalt but if i ever run across 1 for the rite price, im jumpin ship. These cars are like the 2jz supras, very minor mods and ur insane fast.
