no CEL. Sensor on exhaust is on your DP and removing CAT's is the only thing that will cause a CEL to go on unless its located in the right spot. No muffler is FINE! but either weld the stock tip back on or get a 4" tip or whatever one of your choice.

PLEASE...PLEASE dont leave an empty hole in your bumper

AND a ton of carbon and soot build up forming under the body of the car which you wouldn't want.

The only reason the TC sounds good is simply because of the turbo. The turbo creates enough back pressure that it doesn't make the car sound like someone has punch 15 holes in its' muffler.

To be honest, I think your car wouldn't sound good without a muffler. It's like my buddy's 93 Honda accord; when the muffler started getting holes in it, it sounded like garbage. I hope this isn't the case with the 2.2, but I think in my honest opinion that it will be.

I don't want to see you go spending your money to have it sound like crap!

i wouldn't spend any money, on the other hand, your completely right, i don't want it to sound like ****, that is what i'd be scared for, cuz i can get it welded for free by my buddies dad but i don't want to take it off and have it sound like ****, cuz welding it back on would be the shitty part.

only video i could find was this one, but his exhaust is COMPLETELY gone. so i dunno. i want something other then stock especially for this meet this saturday damnit! lol

i've been thinkin bout doing this for a long time, and it would sound so amazing with cams, but what i was gonna do was cut the muffler off, weld a flange up to where you cut the pipe and then get a straight pipe and weld a flange on that and then you can bolt and unbolt the straight pipe as needed.

I know his exhaust is completely gone, but that sounds like complete and utter CRAP! Please don't go to your meet with your cobalt sounding like that. People will think you have some serious problems when in reality you think it's a good sound mod.

I must say, with the muffler delete, the car sounds GREAT! It has a nice throaty sound and sounds good as well at WOT. The shop charged me $90, but it was the cheapest and most reputable shop in my area. For a cheap mod that sounds great until you get a full exhaust, I'd recommend it to ANYONE!

Cheers.

I'm thinking of doing the muffler delete tomorrow...shop told me 50-100 bucks depending on any bending needed. Just wanted some input if this will def. sound better (louder), but not fart can loud?

It will definitely sound better! At first I was unsure about it, but now I absolutely LOVE IT!

TRUST ME, I wouldn't tell you to do something if I thought you weren't going to like it! It sounds NOTHING like a fartcan and the back pressure "burble" is just downright jizz in my pants worthy!

Hope that helps!

Yeah, I asked them to leave the stock tip on my car. I wanted it to look as stock as possible. They moved the tip "outwards" a little bit, but I wanted it that way!

wantedSS/TC, do you get this amount of backfires while catted? cause I love it, but I would also want it a little quieter...
