muffler swap

Hi Guys,

I just bought a 2010 SS/TC and need some more noise. It's too damn quiet, and I think I am going to get some tickets soon because I am going faster than I think I am.

I have a 98 Camaro Z28 with a Magnaflow exhaust with 4 inch tips. It was very quiet when I first installed it, but as time passed, it got much better. After a couple years, it's now got a nice growl!

I was looking at some catbacks like the MPx, and the Turbo XS, and they look, and sound great but with shipping up to Canada, they are going to kill my budget.

I have the GM Stage 1 installed and the K&N intake, and am quite happy with the performance, so I am not really concerned about adding more power, just some more noise. I don't want fart though! I found one guy on youtube with a Magnaflow muffler swap, and it sounded decent, but he won't reply with the part number of the muffler he bought.. 2008 Cobalt SS/TC with magnaflow muffler part 2 - YouTube

The car has the original exhaust and muffler, so I believe it's around 2.5". I don't want a muffler delete, as this would be my daily driver, and again, I don't want tickets.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mr Al

muffler delete FTW!

go to any exhaust shop and if the person who runs the exhaust shop is some what cool, see if he will throw a muffler or 2 on your car and let you start it up to hear how it sounds even tho under load it will sound a little louder vs. reving it.

Dude, just do a downpipe swap. Catless Downpipe with the stock exhaust is good. I have a high flow cat 3" downpipe and its the perfect growl and aggressive noise for someone like me that wants noise when I get on it and quiet when im DDing.

Can't do a catless downpipe or muffler delete. Ontario requires our cars to be put through "drive clean" and they won't pass unless you have a cat and a muffler. No drive clean, no sticker! Beside the GTA cops will just give you a ticket if it's too noisy. I have a good record, and can't afford to pay any more $ for insurance.

The car originally had the muffler delete, but they had to put a muffler on it to pass drive clean and safety. It was too damn loud anyways.

All I want is a muffler that will fit, flow a little better, and offer some nice bass.

Oh well it looks like I will have to save up for the MPx if I can't find one.

Ok, I gave up and ordered the MPx catback. It's gonna be Kraft Dinner for a while...

damn i was just gunna say i live on top of the mountain in caledon but my business is in mississauga and i wouldve given you the muffler delete from the cat back for free. when i baught the car from the dealer last nov it had it on it and they changed it to a new one and i kept it. the funny part is they were going to leave it on but i said no way as well as the blacked out lights(i wanted new ones put on). they quickly agreed when i wrote them a check for the full amount and realized i was serious about buying it.
