New tc
New tc
So I'm going to be picking up my new LNf Tuesday night, 09 black tc sedan
I'm not new to the cobalt world just new to a boosted cobalt,
Basically wanna know where I should start modding it, and what I should look out for problem wise, opinions on different intakes, charge pipes, exhausts,
It's coming with the gms1 kit
Read a good review for the turboxs intake,
And am looking into the twm sts,
Basically looking to do bolt on mods that would be easy to remove should there be a warranty issue,
any info, reviews, suggestions woul be greatly appreciated

one mod im surprised you did not mention is the Catless Downpipe, if you can get away with emissions and inspection in your city/state get it with the sensor plug-in piece to avoid throwing codes.

first Mod down pipe, ether catted or catless, but get a new one.
Check out ZZP.
Second Mod K&N intake. (can get at ZZP)
Third Catch Can (not really a mod, but good to have, Modern Performance has a good one.)
Fourth mod upper charge pipe (ZZP has a good price one)
Fifth Forge BPV
Sixth mod HPT tune.
Seventh tune cat back, muffler, etc. 3inch.
Eighth Intercooler
Ninth Turbo
Tenth Lower change pipe
Eleventh HPTune
Or something like that....
New to the whole turbo area of these cars,
I know some **** bout the sc from Me getting a sc kit together for my 2.2
I'll probably get the zZp carted downpipe with a muffler delete or keep the muffler and do a catless,
I've herd of ppl having troubles with the Hahn stuff with powells mounts, the cars coming with powells mounts so may wanna stay away from
Herd good things bout the werks intercooler
Which intake & charge pipings have the best fit, finish,& performance

I understand to get the full benefit from it I'll need a tune but will an intake, charge pipes and downpipe not run right?
And if it should wait for a tune I'll just collect parts over the winter and mod in the summer
Have alot planned aesthetics wise I can do in the mean time aswell
Just wanted to get a feel for the best parts for the LNf
I'm so excited
lol

I've heard some people have issues with an intake with out tunning
and others like myself were just fine.
The k&N intake box says you are suppose to get around 12 hp with stock tune,
but not sure how true that is.
Yeah I got lots of plans too, all cost money and take time though huh lol.
Worse thing is that I'm moving to Ireland in a few months, so I don't it'd be financially worth it to ship something like a hood to there... and everything else, so some things may have to wait for me I guess.
As for the best parts. There's always going to be some debate on some.
K&N intake for sure.
Down pipe catless would have better flow, but catted if you care about your emissions.
Make for down pipe doesn't matter. I'd get stainless steal. ZZP make one.
That's where I got mine.
I recommend buying ZZP stuff when you can as they have been supplying a lot of stuff to
us and have new stuff in the works for us, so always good to invest in a company that
will help develop new stuff for us, then one that will use the money to develop for another
car.
ZZP back their stuff up too from what I hear from all experiences here, so if something
were to ever go wrong, though haven't heard much bad about them at all.
Hanh makes nice steal charge pipes, but they cost more, and I heard they don't fit well.
Again I'd just go with ZZP's.
ZZP has a good intercooler, but it hangs a little low. They do back it up if you were to ever bottom out and break it though,
or so I hear. Works has one that is suppose to fit just under the lip from what I heard from others that installed it and pics they put up backing it up.
It's suppose to be rally nice, but pricy.
Tredstone has more options for size in intercoolers.
Forge if the only BPV I've came across and never heard complaints about it.

Replaces your standard BPV.
Some people say the stock one leaks a little boost.
Not positive on that, but some do say.
It releases pressure when there is too much and puts the pressure backing to the intake.
The Forge BPV also sounds cooler as a bonus.
Phhssht sound you hear is more defined.

Best Bang for your buck will be the ZZP Catless DP
K&N SRi intake
ZZP Upper CP
Then talk to SSKev and get a Dyno Tune via HPTuners
Forge BPV is a good one also
Best best noticeable gain will be the Catless DP, Intake and then a Good Tune

do as little as possible to your car while you learn to deal with the huge power/torque increase over your last one.
do nothing to the tune until winter is over.
not sure what my mounts have to do with Hahn stuff.
Hahn stuff is expensive doesnt fit very well.
ZZP better value.
but for now do nothing spend no money leave it alone. Tunes dont like winter.

U your self told me the hahn stuff doesn't cooperate with
Your mounts due to fitment issues and terrible vibes
Will probably leave
Most of it alone over the winter might do the forge bpv the twm sts and the downpipe, and a drop in for now
Without GMS1 or another tune, the stock ECU Learndown feature will eventually defeat all the bolt on mods as it tries to limit the output toque of the motor.
Forge BPV is a piece of mind mod mostly, some ppl running high boost (23+) have had the stock BPV rubber diaphragm burst.
Hahn caback exhaust can hit the rear twisting beam if car is lowered but they have a new revised version that has better clearance. Their charge pipes can hit the hood underside if you aren't careful. Injen is a good option.
like John says, drive the winter as-is on good winter tires. Get used to the power then when you start to get bored start modding. Does it have an LSD?
You are lucky to be local, get SSKev to tune your car if you are not worried about going to the dealer (if they find it they may not honour waratee).
