Stock rims wont work in winter??

I recently purchased a 2010 cobalt ss t/c. It currently has after market rims and stock. I was told by the previous owner that the stock rims cannot be exposed to below freezing temps. I have never heard of this and was wondering if anyone running stock rims had issues. Thanks -Andrew

Post a photo of your wheel and tire including clearly the tire brand and model.

They are eagle f1s the tires are for the summer but he preached the rims couldn't work in the winter. He most likely had no idea what he was talking about.

People use the word wheel when they are talking about tires all the time. Perhaps he was one of those people.

Or maybe he meant that way you wont use them as winter wheels since so many people like the tc wheels better than anything and they wont get all rusted out

complete horse crap.

many people do prefer the look of stock turbo wheels (like myself) - but you can run them year round ~ just understand that because of salt & what not, your wheels will get more dinged up over winter.

I ran my stock TC rims for the first time this past winter. I also ran 17" rims with toyo g02+ that fit over the brembo's for 2 other winters. Ontario uses a lot of salt on the roads and it's a very wet heavy winter with a lot of snow.

I actually prefer the stock 18's with Michelin xi3 over the 17" Toyo g02+. Two problems with the stock 18" is they have a few tiny brown spots coming in, and on some of the factory locking lugs rust is beginning to form. Snow likes to clump easy and throw you out of balance at certain speeds. Must Clean often.

That's the main reason I switched back to SS N/A 17's after running SS T/C 18's in the winter. No time 4 dat
