that is really low psi. i would not go lower than 25psi. 2.3 is not bad but if you roll off the clutch more then it should get into the 2.2s or lower.

I just did 20psi because I was so used to running down the strip with 30+, and I wasnt really sure what to lower it too.

OKso I spoke with a representative over at Superchips to get a few more questions answered accurately.

1. The Flashpaq does not offer the 2 yr powertrain warranty, only the Cortex does.

2. They DO NOT offer a 93 tune...yet. Only 91 for now. They are working on a 93 tune and you will be able to update to it for free once it is released.

3. The Launch Control is NOT movable, they reset it to 4k rpm and there it stays, they do not do custom tunes.

4. The rev limit is raised to 6,500 rpm.

5. They dynoed +43whp and +56wtq on just the 91 tune alone! (can't wait to see the 93 tune w/ bolt-ons!)

6. BOLT ONS WELCOME!

7. They will be trying to get a representative on this site as a vendor to further answer questions.

93 works fine on it, and yes get the cortex for the PT warranty.

And as for the custom tunes, they do do different tunes for different bolt ons. (Give it time for there to be more options.)

You can always use a higher octane on a car (usually it's worthless to do so though...). But if your car is tuned for 93 and you use 91, your car is going to pull back timing to reduce the chances of knocking.

As for which gas stations sell what, it's usually a regional thing. For example, not all Shell gas stations have the same octane ratings at all their pumps throughout North America. You usually have to do a bit of searching in the area you live in to find out what there is.

yeah, we have 93 here in PA.

I know it has something to do with the climate year round as well. I could be wrong though. I read that a while ago.

im thinking hard about this and might actually go for just because it doesnt seem like a ridiculous tune where i will worry about my clutch and most important it will get rid of the learn down which truly holds our cars back

Precisely why I'll be doing this tune. The idea of more power out of Trifecta or a custom dyno tune with bolt-ons is great...but I really like my clutch and not having to spend the $1500+ for a new one. +43hp and +56tq at the wheels at 22 pounds of boost is PLENTY for me. Plus, I can flash it back to stock for the snowy winter months which is cool as hell.

P.S. Forgot to mention that the Factory speed limiter of 155mph is moved up to 315...yes 315mph...Of course the car will never get there so that basically just means it's no longer speed limited to 155mph.

EDIT: Aaannnndd just ordered Superchips Cortex. Should be here next week some time!

Why does everyone assume the Trifecta tune makes the clutch slip, but the Superchips tune wont? You're basically making the same power with both tuners, just trying to find out why people dont think their clutch will slip with the Superchips. Congrats on ordering the Superchips Cortex, let us know what you think.

Eh i have a feeling that it wont make as much power as the trifecta. I mean like i said they dynoed an extra 56tq at the wheels. Aren't most trifecta tunes making a good chunk more torque than that? I mean hey if the clutch goes then it goes and I'll bite the bullet and get a new one...but I have a feeling this tune is more mild. I'll take it to big shots and have it dynoes to verify though. And im by no means putting down the trifecta tune...in fact i just said it makes more power...but to some people like myself...all that power isn't really necessary..plus I LOVE that I can take it back to stock in about 5 seconds for the winter as there is no need for more power on ice.

the only things that impress me with the superchips tune are:
1. you are able to switch back to stock and update tunes as superchips release them
2. the tune is slightly mild compared to others, which is what i was looking to do considering i want this car to last a little bit without killing it too much
3. cant beat having a 2 year warranty, no one else offers this and its pretty helpful to those of us that have an ass load of mods and would hate having to go back to stock to have some dickface gm mechanic still give us a bunch of crap

i still might get hptuners. im trying to learn as much as i can in terms of using hptuners to make my own tune, and i think it will be worth it in the long run, plus i could make some cash on the side by tuning other peoples cars around here.

im split about 50/50 on buying the superchips or hptuners. the one dead point of the superchips tune is the fact that its only optimized for 91 octane right now and although it is bolt-on friendly, id rather have more control over how a tune uses my bolt ons like hptuners can.

have about another month before i could afford either, so plenty of time to think

yeah, thats where im at right now. do i really want to learn hptuners or just tune the damn thing and be off.

i think it would be pretty beneficial to know how to tune, but id rather not have to run into too many mistakes with my own car in learning how to tune.

Yeah thats what I was feeling. I would love to learn but often times mistakes are made during learning...and Id rather not have those mistakes be on my new car ha ha.
