I've only stalled it once. I never park with the car left in gear, but I did once, and when I started it I forgot and pulled my foot off the clutch while still in gear. Other than that, never. These cars are pretty hard to stall I find.

this isnt everyones first car. never stalling a manual and never stalling THIS manual are different. Ive never stalled my GTO..but thats because i leanred on my friends mustang that i stalled plenty of times (and practiced on steve's cobalt..no stalls i can remember there either)

Everyone stalla some time or another. The last time I remember stalling I accidentally jsut took my foot off the clutch before I turned the car off. Embarrassing!

I live in PA, and to get ANYWHERE from my house, I have to sit at a redlight on top of the biggest hill ever, I stall it maybe once every 30 times...and it's only when I'm blasting music and cant hear the engine

The clutch is more ornery during its break-in period, that's when I had the most trouble with near stalls and the aforementioned smoking the tires off a red light. As it has broken in I find it's less ornery now that it's broken in but I agree this would not be a good car to learn on.

Stalled mine a couple days ago trying to take off in 3rd gear (oops). This is something I could get away with in my old Neon, it's a lot more difficult here.
The combination of a really tight clutch and no torque at 1000 rpm make the cobalt one of tougher combinations out there.

I voted within the last month but it's prolly been a couple of months at least. I feel bad about this but has anyone been sitting in their driveway with the ebrake and brake pedal engaged with the clutch in.........and for some reason thought you were in neutral ......and let the clutch out with it in gear?? Oh i was pissed when i did that to my poor car!

When I first test drove the TC I stalled out while going over a speed bump in the dealer parking lot. Compared with the clutch feel / engagement in my past two vehicles (04 Cooper S and 04 RX8) the TC has been the hardest to get out smoothly on a consistent basis.

The only time I stall the Cobalt is after I have been driving the M3 for a while....the differences in clutch clutch engagement trip me up for a few minutes when I go from car to car, but other then that its smooth driving all the way.

if i stall its when i put the car in gear to park and dont turn it off first, forget to put the car in neutral after i start it and pick my foot up. Until my clutch was broken in driving in parking lots doing less than 5mphs was almost instant stall because it was TOO god damn touchy.

ive saved myself a couple of times... even seen the rpms drop to 0 and revive itself like nothing had ever happened... but yes ive stalled it...
my dad stalled the first night... he thought he was in 1st... but he was actually in third... hes not used to the short shifter.

Actually, when i bought my TC i stalled it probably once a day for about a month, driving quite a bit though, between my 30 mile commute, and just having a new car and driving around to show friends and relatives... BUT, i was also driving a 93 toyota pickup too, and that clutch was hard as hell to push after the clutch disengaged, and would soften up as soon as it started to touch, so from that to the cobalt, you have to almost feel the car moving to know when its engaging. i sold the truck since then, and rarely stall now, i can feel it in the pedal a little better now too... the only time i have stalled now is when i park and sit there and mess with something and dont have it in neutral and just let it out.
Am i the only one that thinks the clutch could be a little stiffer? Its great when your driving hard, but just daily light to light driving stiffer seems better.

yeah i think so... at times i could be driving on the freeway and shifting regularly then when i get off, and stop at a light... im near the point of stalling the car... lol

My TC was the first standard I ever drove. Drove down to the dealership, gave'em my 06 SS 2.4 Auto, they gave me the TC, and off I went. Or so i tought. I had to drive 30 miles, and there's a lot of stop lights in 30 miles ) I got the hang of it after that, took me about a week. This was 9 months ago, I think i stalled again sometime in September, McD's drive thru "...here's your order! Thank yo... pfff... oh ****"
