2009 Cobalt ss Reliability??

I'm looking at an 09 with roughly 65,000 miles on it. Is their anything I should look out for? are these cars relatively bullet proof?

haha agreed. start modding them heavily and it's a ticking time bomb in the drivetrain department..

overall minor things that can easily be fixed and won't leave ya on the side of the road. no worries it's a pretty decent car.
the valves are known to collect carbon though because of the direct injection so it might be a good idea to seafoam it if you buy it.

I will probably be able to pick it up for 12,500 not a bad deal eh? this is in Canada where they tend to be a bit more expensive. Any Scheduled maintenance I should be worried about?

Should be good for anything major. Might not be a bad idea to change the oil just in case. If I knew I was selling the car and it needed an oil change I'd consider using regular oil instead of synthetic to save money.

Being Canada i would seafoam it a couple times to be safe haha, and check the rear brakes... id assume with the mileage that they have been addressed a few times. And dont get skimped on the test drive, put a few miles on it to make sure everything feels right, good luck!

there has been a few block issues on here... iv read pretty much all of them and it doesnt seem like it affects more than a select few. Good news tho is that every single one has been replaced under warranty

Right, I was just pointing it out. OP, if you do get the 09, make sure it has a build date as recent as possible. I have heard that it may not effect the later built 09 cars

OH and make sure it has the G85 Limited Slip Differential

As long as the coolant isn't draining, and the looking under the oil cap shows normal, you should be good on the most expensive issues. Also it shouldn't sound like a Subaru. Best if you can get a leakdown and compression test done too to rule out a busted ringland. Everything else can be repaired in your driveway fairly easily.

No major concerns with this car. I love it. It is a rock solid car for me, and mine sees far harder use than 99% of all the people on this board.

Check the rear brakes, inside of the rotor and how bad the pad is worn. I had rotors and pads replaced under warranty once already and going to be replacing the pads again in the rear soon. The rear brakes are horrible on this car.
