Talking UPDATED!! 2010 Cobalt SS/TC Stage 1 test drive!

Ok so I will be test driving a stage 1 SS/TC tomorrow. I will write a review on what i think of the kit on the car. Just Wanted to let everyone know in advance in case you want me to focus on a particular part of the car. Please post up any suggestions. Thanks to Bill aka More_Torque_More_HP he is driving from Detroit to Lansing to let me drive the car and give my opinion on the kit. This will happen about 2:30pm tomorrow and I will post results back up on Saturday night.

Thanks,

Bee

My Review of the Stage 1 Kits

Ok so the car is a 2010 coupe with lsd and stage 1 kit. The car has 1933 miles when we took off. The very first thing i noticed was that first gear is still limited boost which is awesome. We took it on the highway and it is amazing on how fast boost builds now. It builds roughly 50% faster then stock. I peak the boost out at 23PSI and held steady at 21.5-22psi constantly. We had 4 people in the car and the car pulled way harder then my stock ss/tc would ever pull. If I have to compare this kit it, I would compare it to the stage 2 ss/sc kit. Those who have had a stock ss/sc then got the stage 2 and were like holy ****. Well this kit does the same but it pulls a lot harder then the ss/sc stage 2 kit does. But then again we are talking about a supercharged car and turbo car. Even with 4 people in the car roughly 800-900 lbs of people the car pulled amazingly fast. I love how the boost builds so much faster then stock. When we talked to Bill about installing the kit the Gm tech will have a certain way to install the sensors so that they done corrode or screw up. The wires are different colors and if your not a tech I recommend you not installing them. Unless you want to say goodbye to the warranty, which is why we all want a GM stage kit right? NLS is still intact and when i used it the tq steer is there don't be surprised or get surprised because its there worse than stock. I know tyler who was with us has a trifecta tune on his, he said his was somewhat faster; however Bill explained to us that if you are over spinning the turbo to make a lot of power the turbo wont last long at all. I am not goign to speak for tyler, I will let him explain how he felt about the car. If anyone has any questions about anything please do ask. My car felt like **** driving it after driving the stage 1. Also learn down is turned off to a point, GM needs to keep the car at a safe point so they are not dishing out tons of money for warrenty. But Bill did state that any air intakes, tubing, intercooler, exhaust work can help with the way it performs. So here it is sorry so later!

I would like to know how linear the power delivery is (spikes in power, etc.) and what to expect in highway fuel mileage.

Should I sub this thread or will you create a new one with the impressions!

Have fun!

I will edit my first post so there is not two different threads. Maybe Bill can answer that question. I sent him a pm with the link to this thread!

Awsome!! Is you car tuned, or have you driven a tuned TC by any chance? Reason I ask is because I'd be curious to see how they differ in drivability and overall "seat of your pants" feel/perfomance.. Have fun wih it man!

Nope my car is stock except for K&N airfilter. Although from my understanding it will push the same amount of boost as a tuned ss/tc!

that would be awsome if it did but i highly doubt that gm would warantee our tranny on a NLS with (roughly give or take 1-2psi depending on the tuner/persion getting tuned) 21psi. because thats alot of torque. plus there is no way gm would send us out bossting like that on stage 1 if they plan to stage 2. also it cant be all that good for the turbo

This is great news all around. Hell find another TC member and meet up to do some test pulls.

Maybe vs. a stock vehicle.

Mosty people are reporting a 1 to 2 mpg improvement once the testosterone has let go of the gas pedal.

2010 is coming. coomes with moon roof and RPD standard.

they prolly wont spike as high PSI bc GM is picky blah blah blah. last time i checked there was no GM stage 1 reflash.

hmmmm curious.

aftermarket tuners just needs the map sensors.

I will quote Bill "With the stage kit, you get to keep your warrenty" as of right now that is a great selling point for me!

It is coming. Just waiting on CARB to approve the certification submission. The rest of the "system" is loaded and waiting for the approval.

Fully warranted by GM. All vehicle warranties remain intact.

I dont think so. Bill is testing the stage 1 and getting impressions on it before its released, I believe. Hope Bill dont mind, but Bill is the one who created the Stage kits for the ss/sc!
