They only list 22mm for the sway bar bushings. Odd. Ill just get GM bushings. They are about $10 for the pair anyways and I dont have to pay for shipping.
I have not done any of the engine/trans mounts. Again, like all the other bushings they "looked" good when I had the cradle dropped. Steering tie rods ends got replaced as one of mine had a cracked boot
Moog end links for sure. I like the grease-able part. The Cobalt wont see much track time, I think. But even at that, the events will be for fun so I dont need the best of the best stuff on it. Thats what the money pit Evo is for.
The only reason I replaced the mount was I had an engagement clunk in 1st and reverse. The other mounts I didn't touch, and the mount on the trans it a pain to get to and I had the motor out so it was only another 100 in the while I'm there parts that go replaced.
I dont really want to go to aftermarket mounts just yet. From past experiences on other cars, you feel the vibes. Going to see what the sway bar links do first then go from there.
Yeah that's fair. I haven't replaced my engine mount either because i'm waiting to buy another car as a daily then get to work rebuilding my suspension in the spring.
Finally stopped being lazy and ordered the Moog end links. Also decided I needed some titanium brake pad shims so I got some of those coming too. I am going to let one of my buddies use the Cobalt for track days every now and then so I figured they would be a good investment. If everything shows up before the weekend, I will get it all installed on Saturday. I am also hoping that I can finish up all the little stuff on my Bug (mostly wiring) during the week and maybe Saturday will also be test drive day.
End link arrived pretty fast. Shims arent looking like they will make it to me by the weekend though. Planned on doing a bunch of work on the Cobalt on Saturday but I guess the shims can wait. Thats an easy install anyways.
Titanium is a horrible heat conductor. So these shims help out with heat transfer to the caliper so it keeps the fluid colder. Mostly only needed for race applications. I do plan on tracking the car so figured they would help. I run a set on my evo too.
Thats good to hear. We will find out for sure one of these days. I'm just running the stock brembo pads so who knows how those will do. Most likely I'll put some good brake fluid in it too. Then just send it.

I can't recall for certain, but I seem to remember that the stock pads were actually made by Ferodo (or maybe Pagid... it's been too long) and were actually pretty damn good. I remember Powell and another member with an LNF swearing by them.
Unfortunately, all the related info that I remember there being was on another forum, which is now defunct and inaccessible.
I'll message my friend real quick; he tracked his LNF at NJMP quite often. I know one issue he ran into was that long sweepers would sometimes starve the fuel pump if he was under 1/4 tank, iirc.

I'm pretty sure your memory is correct on the maker of the pads.
I'm fairly certain Colodude ran stock pads on the stock turbo, only switched to Hawk race pads after a bigger turbo.
That is good to know. Those are decent pads for sure. I am going to have to see if getting the actual Ferodo pads are cheaper than getting them from GM. I think I paid about $140 for the GM ones, fronts only.
I went back to stock pads and rotors this last brake change. I don't track the car and everything I seemed to read said the stocks offered the best street performance
I really like the OEM pads for street driving so far. No complaints in that department. My shims showed up today so I will get them installed tomorrow while doing all my other work to the Cobalt. If for whatever reason I can get into my next auto-x race, I think I will take the Cobalt to try them out. I think the Evo is going to go under the knife pretty soon so I can install my big turbo so it may be down for the next race anyways.
Had a little time tonight to install the shims. No difference yet, that is as expected. Tomorrow it shall get Lucas full synthetic 10-30 and some work up front. More to come....
Done working on the cobalt. Still have to take it for a test drive though. First off, I popped off the drivers side strut and stripped it down again. I followed konis instructions on how to cut the shock body and it was way wrong. So I cut the original too short. Ordered the cheapest strut I could find and used that as the next donor. Came out perfect this time. I also took the other sides strut apart and put red loctite everywhere since I didn't the first time around. After that, I put the new sway bar end links in. Then done. Ohh, also changed the oil for the second time on the new engine (2500ish miles). Sending out an oil sample for analysis.
and of course the kid had to help out and do his silly face for a picture.
Shoot, then no I did not change them. That will be next time I guess. I am getting pretty good on taking the front end apart so it shouldnt be too big of a deal to do those bushings.
