glenn do u know why i deleted my comments on matts page,cuz i didnt feel the need to argue between both u and matt.if ur telling me the front mount above the motor with less intercooler piping is better and will not lag like a front mount setup ur definitely wrong and so is matt! u pretty much make the same gains from a front mount and a top mount, even with a top mount u will spool quicker,but their is no need to use a bigger top mount on a stock turbo!,also with a top mount u run into issues with heat soak and lower boost levels from the heat,now with a front mount u do have more extra piping,but the extra piping is bigger if u go aftermarket which saves up for it..and u have high boost levels and less heat soak.. but u may loose like 1 psi on that setup... but u still make the same gains! and with both setups u may see 200rpm difference for quicker spool... this is why i say its better to have a front mount because its in the proper position...not for looks!... this is like a short ram intake vs a cold air... a short ram takes in the hot air from the motor which makes the turbo hotter and motor hotter! mean while with a cold air intake,takes in cold air and helps cool the motor and turbo
but u still run into issues with heat on a top mount compared to a front mount, on a sti! but if ur on a stock turbo setup its not even worth it to have a bigger intercooler cuz u dont gain anything! only if u go big turbo and supporting mods u will see a difference...check the air fuel ratios.. thats what the whole conversation was about a top mount vs a front mount on a sti

True points. Not denying them. But putting a big FMIC on a stock turbo STI will hurt you because of the extra lag. I saw it on a local car. Horrible lag. Made him slower. Much slower.
yea but 50% of srt-4 owners dont know anything about the car! ...or how to mod, its the same with any car though
even with tunes u still wont see gains on a stock turbo setup with a bigger intercooler... its over kill
