aftermarket charge piping

Im looking to put hahn charge pipes on my car, now, i know that my car has the "learn down" mode. So theoretically, do I have to get a tune in order to run these pipes? because wouldent they add better flow resulting in more horsepower and/or torque?

i dont know why everyone says that you should not tune first! get your bolt ons and get tuned to your performance parts, getting tuned first is premature ejaculation!

parts then tune this way you dont have to keep retuning. you just wont see any gains until you tune.

I prefer the "all together" theory. Plan your car, order your parts, put on the parts, get tuned the next day.

Parts and then tune are a great idea. Though I went with tune first since I really don't plan on going all crazy with it. May get a hot side charge pipe and a downpipe and then get the new tune that Trifecta came up with. I would recommend charge pipes for sure considering many say that the stock pipes can't handle heavy boost. I have stock piping and have been runing around 22 PSI for about 5k miles no with no problem but others may not be so lucky.

i have the dejon upper and lower charge pipes, they are awesome and not that hard to install. I to believe that you should order the parts, install them, then get a tune. Just common sense that way you dont have to tune after every mod to get the most out of your car!

I agree with the above statement. Now that all the supporting/bolt on modes are in my car, its time to get the trifecta tune!

I think the charge piping is more for looks than power. I believe it frees up some restictive areas but overall performance isnt gonna increase by much at all. but thats my theory. none the less Im still gonna get them!

charge piping alone is not going to require a tune, thats ridiculous. If you just want CP get it and dont worry. Until you are a stage kit or tuned the engine will learn down to stock anyway. So get the parts you want first.

charge pipe (hot side is the route to go). The cold side isn't that restrictive (plus it's a BITCH installing). There are performance gains with Clear Image's Performance version of the CP. at least 10whp.

You won't need to retune for a CP. I would retune however with a DP and intake.

Hot side boost tubing should be a required mod. I sa this because the stock plastic part has been known to crack/split apart. On the dyno, we literally ran away from the car as the stock part had swelled and moved a couple inches while under boost.

Stock style boost tubing, or what we refer to as our "appearance" boost tubing, showed maybe 1 HP over stock. But our "Performance" boost tubing was good for 6 HP to the wheels.

If you have to choose, I suggest the hot side first then the tune.

You can run your car just fine with new charge piping without a tune... I did that with mine until my other mods came in. You can also do the same with a dp. However, when it comes to the intake, I would tune immediately after putting that on as I found a lot of tweaking was required when it came to mine... Our cars are very picky when it comes to intakes...

When I put the AEM CAI on, I had to tweak the MAF table about 9% due to the larger diameter of the intake. LTFT's went to +9 to +14 depending on conditions. MAF went up from 30 to 32 since it can breathe better now. (21.5 PSI boost)
