From what you seen in the videos, yes, that is a high-flow cat, no resonator or muffler.

Mine sounds just like the videos, but I have a Synapse catless DP, Hahn 3" w/no muffler. I'm probably going to chop off the resonator sometime too

Shiiit, I might try to have them go high flow cat, no res, to no muffler. if it sounds like crap then maybe they can just throw a muffler on lol.

Will high flow cat to no res be against emissions?

Resonator is for noise frequency, has nothing to do with emissions, only cats do

What do you mean WHEN you had? Did you change it? And what magnaflow muffler did you use?

After talking to the guy from the muffler shop I went to today, he gave me a few prices on removing cats and running 3" piping and ****. He said its 200 to cut the cat off on the DP and 100 from the 2nd cat. He thought 3" piping might be a little overkill on our cars untill he noticed the DP is 2 3/4". He said its doable but it would be a pain in the ass to bend 3" piping so many times like our current exhaust is. He said its doable but im guessing itll run like 300+. And thats if I brought him the muffler I want. it was $50 to cut my current muffler off and put a piece of pipe in their, but he asked me if I wanted to go with a bigger tip. I said I wanna hear what it sounds like off and with a tip. So he chopped it off and it sounded suprisingly good. He put this gigantic tip on it which just acts as a megaphone I guess, LMFAO, and it actually made it a tiny bit deeper sounding, but not much louder. I told him to go ahead and put the 4" tip on and he did and im happy with it. It is ****** LOUD. Its just as loud as a fart can, ill be honest, but it doesnt have a tinny sound to it at all. Its a great cheap temporary fix for some noise untill you save up for a full exhaust. Overall, best $50 i spent in a long time. The tip I got on my car now looks a little rediculous under the car, lol, but from what you see when the cars on the ground it looks just fine. 4" stainless.

^No, I have stock exhaust. The TC's have 2 cats directly after eachother. 1 on the DP and one a few feet further down. Then the resonator immediatly after 2nd cat. Then a few twisties around **** to a gigantic suitcase muffler with a 3 1/2in stainless steel tip. All I did was cut out the muffler and insert a small piece of pipe maybe 1 foot and then add a 4" stainless steel tip. Becasue of the 2 cats and the resonator the exhuast still sounds good. It is as loud as any fart can muffler, but honestly has a nice deep tone to it. I like it alot. I listened to vids of cars witout mufflers and honestly most if not all sound like ass. For some reason this sounds like it has a muffler on it. I found adding the tip I got honestly did some justice to the sound and helped it out alittle and made it a tad deeper. I took a vid but all I have is a cell phone and honestly the vid just sounds like crap cause it sound like it gonna blow the speakers on my cell. lol. I have a few of me driving and ill post anyways. Actual noise is just alot louder. The camera likes to pick up only what is directly in front of it. not so much out the window

Stock exhaust tip:

New 4" stainless tip:

I mean u gotta give it to the new tip even just for cosmetic reasons. stock tip barely fills half the hole of the bumper

Hey Guys, I just stumbled upon this thread. This is a great cheap mod. I think I will do it this weekend.
Two questions:
1. How loud is it on start up, wondering if I will wake up the family?
2. Is is drony at all on the freeway?

yes, and a little, but not rediculous.

Highway speeds are over 2k RPM in 5th and at that range yes you will be getting some noise. but nothing like some others I have heard.

I had a Corsa on my 05 SS/SC and it was great during freeway speed, but at wot it was pretty loud. Did you get that tip from the exhuast shop, it looks great. I think I am just
going to do it.

So you don't want to blow your brains out after driving on the freeway?

Also, if I want to get a new tip do you happen to know what the stock piping diameter is. I know I want a 4"tip I just want to make sure the one I get mates up to the stock piping.

^yea I got that tip at the exhaust shop. No you dont wanna blow your brains out on the freeway. You hear it if your radio is completely off and your paying attention to it. If your radio volume is on 5 you cant hear it no more. I guess the reason I notice it so much is becasue its the 1st day I got installed and iv been driving around with my radio off and my windows down all day lol.

Sweet dude. I wish I could drive around with my windows down, it's kinda cold in Michigan.
Now when you get on it, does it really come to life? Did you notice any performance degradation, or enhancement? By the way how much did it cost tip and muffler delete?

Muffler delete was $50. Because I wanted the stainless steel tip and he had to bend some piping to make it work it cost me an even $100. I didnt mind though cause the guy was cool and made me laugh alot.

I just came back from visiting my family in NY and it was 35 there. Here in NC where I live it was 75 today. lol. Havnt lived here a year yet but already love it.

Performance gains, I havnt really noticed any and doubt it really nets much. The restiction in our exhaust is from the 2 cats and resonator. Plus even if you were to go out and get a $600 Hahn full exhaust you wont net any performance gains without a tune because of the SS/TC learn down feature. If you havnt heard, our computer controls boost so our cars get 260 HP and 260 TQ no matter what. If its hot outside ull push 16lb boost. Cold youll push 14lb boost. If your exhaust is free flowing and netting you extra horsepower you may push 13lb boost. Its just the way things are unless you wanna get an aftermarket tune. And then you void warrenty and your out another 300 bucks.

For 50 - 100 bucks, this is an easy enough decision for me.

Oh and when you get on it, you can hear it from the next town, but its still not raspy. Its a MOOOOOOOAAAAAA not a VEEEEEEEE lol. I had a flowmaster installed on my old cobalt LT and it cost me $240. This sounds 3x as good.

^nice man. let me know how you like it. I bet you will. Make sure if you get a tip its stainless and not chrome. My 2.2 they put a chrome one on, but that rusts and you have to wax it. Not worth it. Stainless FTW. Or you can always keep stock tip on, but u see the difference in look up top. And I found my muffler shop by just googling Muffler (my zip code). 1st link was yellow pages. 1st one on list I called and went to. lol.

Gestapo, so do you still like your muffler delete. I haven't had a chance to do mine yet.
The weather up here in MI has been terrible. Just curious if you still like the sound, etc...
If you get a chance I would love to hear some clips from outside the car, there is one in this thread, but it sounded like the guy was in an uderground parking garage.

I know Hahn has a nice one but its not available on summit racings website. I dont even know if you can just get their muffler either.

THis is what I was thinking:

What generally sounds better, round or Oval? Straight through or Offset. I would imagine round straight-through would be loudest. Oval straight through would be same but alittle quieter. Oval Offset would be a little quiter than that
You hit the nail on the head with that round XR1 it should sound bad ass on a TC. I have not heard any borlas on a TC yet though. Borla mufflers are generally pretty quiet when cruising but very agressive at WOT especially the XR1 Round.

Only thing that I hate about my muffler delete is that the sound level is annoying if I put it on cruise at 80+ mph. Simple fix is to just turn up the radio.

Answer is yes. The sound is great, it is a bit loud though. If that makes sense.

Like the tone of the sound is great since its low and agressive, but you can hear the low agressive tone from 3 blocks over. lol. I love it though, personally I dont mind, i actually prefer it. when you take off in traffic cars 10 back are looking around finding out whos the ******* with the loud exhaust. haha. Sounds good though, never had any1 say otherwise. I would take a sound clip but my cell phone justs sounds terrible. my camera takes video and ill try that and see.

yea like i said, the sound is great but its just loud lol. if you can live with it good, if its too loud then just rhwo a muffler on. but i actually like it so much i open my windows every chance i get so i can hear it more. not that i need to but it just sounds so nice. a good exhaust is better then any song. especially on a warm day, theres just nothing better then to cruise. and at WOT, holy ****. the thing absolutely screams. Its a fun car to drive and this definitly enhances the experience for me. 80+ for extended periods I can see getting annoying, but modding you car you have to think about practicallity. I want lowering springs, but the places I drive on a daily basis would make it impossible to do with a car ay lower. With fucked up pavement at my job, to bowling ally parking lot entrance is like jumping a curb. I can put springs on but then i should expect to bitch about ******* my front fascia up. If you drive at 80+ everyday for a long time I would expect a loud exhasut to be annoying.

I found you have to mod your car to what your life allows, especially as a DD. not so much what you want and what every1 else has. This exhaust works for me because i find myself going from light to light in the town I live in, and the fastest roads are 55 and cops are everywhere. Im very rarely at a constant speed for a long time
